A military helicopter painted a dark shade of camo hummed through the night sky as it made its way over the seemingly endless forest. Within the chopper, three people sat in their seats listening to their debriefing through the headsets.

Mission: Neutralize the cocaine base of operations believed to be hidden in the amazon forest. Will be dropped x miles from the believed location; coordinates will be sent to the leaders GPS ({you wanna be squad leader?}). When the mission is complete, report back base, and coordinates for rendezvous will be provided. Good luck soldiers. You're the best there is; don't fail.

The girl sitting closest to the open space, where they would eventually jump out of, turned to look out at the jungle bellow with her thoughtful dark brown eyes. The wind whipped at her shoulder-length black hair and she raised a hand to her head in an attempt to hold some of her hair back and out of her eyes. Her name was Winny, short for Kasawinla. She didn't wear much in ways of clothes; a black skin tight shirt that looked sort of like a sports bra; a pair of fingerless-black gloves; cargo capri black pants; and a pair of ankle sneakers. on her right upper arm was a native american arm band with a single preserved eagle feather hanging from it. She was native american born although her lighter-then-copper-skin indicated she wasn't full native american. Her specialty in her service to her country was a combination of navigation and recon. A desert eagle pistol at her hip, and a sniper rifle laying across her lap. She knew how to live off the land and work with it so to stay hidden from her enemies. She spent a tour(?) in the army as a recon scout in the amazon rain forest. After her 4 years service was up she went back to her tribe and a year later she was contacted. Her skills with stealth and accuracy with her rifle caught the attention of some people high up and she was offered a place in the special unit team that she is apart of now ({I was thinking of having your guy and Winny being the "battle brothers" so-to-speak while my other girl is sort of the new kid that they know but don't exactly have that bond of trust and "brotherhood"})

Sitting across the cabin from her in the middle seat was another girl with mouse brown hair held up in a messy bun. Her bright forest green eyes stared down in sheer admiration at the pump-action shotgun in her lap while one of her hands polished the black metal. Erika, the Italian-blood army brat of a renowned general, was the ballistics expert. Anything ranging from a shotgun to a full powered gatling gun. Growing up somewhat of a pyromaniac and arsonist, she can disarm most any known explosive devices and on the flip side create explosives with the simplest, and often times most improvised, of items. She wore camo cargo pants with army boots; earth brown shirt that was tight enough to emphasize her bigger-then-average chest underneath an open green military vest; a belt of frag grenades and incindenary(sp?) grenades that she made herself; and around her neck was small ball-link chain with a pair of dogtags hanging from it. The dogtags belonging to her late father. About a year and a half ago, Erika was arrested for "accidently" blowing up what she called a corrupt senators house and was given the surprising option of either spending life in prison, or signing on a life term in the military as a member of this special force. Her choice was obvious and she has been with the other two of the team ever since.

Darian was the leader of what their faction called the 'Devil's Trio'. He may have been young, but he was the best sniper there was. He didn't go by a nickname like most freelance snipers did, even if they were in teams, but he did call himself the sureshot of the group. He could pick off any target at any visible distance within his scope. His casual clothes, above, were worn when he was not scouting or scoping out an enemy base. However, his Stealth Suit could literally cloak if he held still. The suit was skintight and under his normal clothes...and he never took it off...He called it his second pair of flesh, though behind everyone's backs he did take the suit off whenever he did bathe.

When the chopper dropped the trio down in the midst of the jungle, Darian signalled for it to leave and return to base while he, Winny, and Erika would proceed with the mission. They were to be there at least for a month...and had to do whatever it took to stop, temporarily or permanently, the drug ring. As it took off, Darian began to walk on but something awkward began to happen. He heard...weird buzzing noises. Quickly turning back, Darian saw the chopper begin to be swarmed by large bugs...the size of wolves...! They were like flies, only they were taking down the chopper! "Rescue 5-0, whats happening up there!? Rescue 5-0!" The station only came in static as the chopper began to fall to the jungles, crashing and exploding. "What the hell just happened...!?"

Winny secured her pistol in its holster and held her sniper in her hands as the voice from the cockpit announced their arrival. Likewise Erika tossed aside the polishing rag and made sure her hunting knife was secured in its strap that was tied around her boot. When she confirmed its secured, she flipped her shotgun and slid it into its holster on her back. Erika grabbed the bag of ammo while Winny carried the bag of provisions (as well as the extra parts to her rifle) and they all jumped out one by one.

Once on the ground, Winny did her usual analysis of her surroundings; first looking around with her eyes, and then through the scope of her rifle. When all was clear she began to follow her leader. Upon hearing the buzzing sounds she turned around and stared in pure shock at the impossible bugs which were attacking the helicopter. Somewhere next to her she heard Erika's voice cry out in her English accent. "What the bloody hell are those?!". Winny snapped back from her initial shock, raised her sniper, and shot at one of them. Aiming for the locations she assumed would be the most likely critical hits. After about three shots, the one she was shooting at began to lazily flutter to the ground. She aimed her crosshairs at another one but by that time the copter was already going down, the bugs following it as it went until it exploded. Winny lowered her crosshairs and stared at the plume of smoke with wide eyes. Upon Darian's questions she opened her mouth and stuttered slightly as she replied. "I-I have no idea. I worked in the jungle for four years and I've never seen or heard of ANY insect that big. . .m-might be some prehistoric creature or-or fluke phenomenon. . " Her mind raced to find reasonable solutions to the question that they all asked themselves and found herself spouting out every reason that came time mind. More to herself now then to Darian.

Darian frowned as he watched the smoke begin to rise up from where the helicopter crashed. He turned to the girls and shook his head. "Talking isn't going to change anything. We need to go on. If those...those things...find us, I doubt we'll make any better chances with us being out here in the open in a forest full of them. We need to find shelter before the day is over with." He turned and began to walk on. He tried to call the base with the radio but eventually he just dropped the device on the floor and kept walking. "Signal's out. We're being jammed...There's nothing but static and laughter within the static...what the hell is going on here?"

Winny nodded to her caption as his dominant leader voice triggered her soldier instincts and snapped her back into focus. Setting her sniper in its place under her shoulder, she raised the scope to her vision and continuously scanned their surrounding as she followed him through the jungle.

For a moment Erika simply stared at the plume of smoke as it floated sluggishly to the sky. She tilted her head as she stared at it. There was a lot of smoke for that one chopper that was only big enough to transport three people plus the pilot. Her mind began to analyze what she saw, her mind leaping from one fact to another as it made a list. Black smoke which meant burning gasoline, smell of rotting flesh drifting away from the crash site, plume diameter accurate proportion to the chopper size. The combustion rate was rather rapid which was only slightly odd given there should only be the chopper contents and gasoline fumes that were burning. She then noticed the occasional lick of green flames as they tonged every so often passed the top of the trees. She raised an eyebrow at the flames and after watching them a moment longer, she slowly turned away as she drew her shotgun in her hands, and then caught up with the rest of her team in a sort of jog. "So where to now?" She asked Darian once she was side by side with Winny.

Darian shook his head as he continued to walk on. "I don't know...The only source of contact we have to the outside world is being jammed. Whatever jammer they have is strong...this far out from our destination and we've lose signal with the satellite." He said sighing as he looked to Erika. "Try and keep up newbie. Don't let that gun of yours slow you down. Watch our flanks while Winny and I take point, alright?" He said before winking to her playfully to show he meant all good to her.

Winny smiled to herself as Darian gave Erika her orders. Erik simply smiled at him sweetly and pointed her shotgun at his face for a moment. Then without saying a word, she raised her pointer and middle finger to her brow and flicked them slightly in his direction; making a small salute action. She then checked her gun to make sure it was loaded and cocked, and then drew back a little to keep watch on their rear. Mainly looking side to side and occasionally turning to walk backwards a few steps so to scan behind.

Winny took a few quick steps forward so she could talk to Darian without shouting to be heard. "Shall I scout ahead? I might be able to find an abandoned wolf cave or something for shelter so we can make our next plan of action without being distracted by moving."

Darian chuckled at Erika's actions and turned to walk on ahead. After a while, he heard Winny come close and begin to whisper to him. "Hm...no...We need to stay in a troupe or else we'll be picked off faster than the helicopter. Those...those things are still out there...they could ambush us at any moment. Lets stick together until we find some shelter." He turned and winked to her. "Though...I wouldn't mind you walking a few steps in front of me to let me watch that ass of yours." He chuckled at his teasing.

Winny nodded at his logic of needing to stay together. Although she wasn't planning on going so far as to get out of sight. Besides, call it childish arrogance or stereotypical logic, but those bugs were winged creatures and would be at a disadvantage if they tried to come into the jungle. And an even more disadvantage when faced against herself who know the lands like no other. None-the-less, she obeyed her caption and shot him a look when he cracked his joke. Grinning softly and chuckling to herself. "Just try to keep your northern head focused, Darian." She said with a grin as she jogged ahead and continued her surveying of their surrounding while also keeping an extra eye out for any place they could take shelter. A small grin still on her face as she wondered if Darian was actually watching her ass. All the years they worked together she had gotten used to his jokes. She used to slap him every time he made such a comment but she came to find it cute. Plus it helped keep them calm in stressful situations.

Darian sneered as he watch her ass as she watched. 'Damn...never ceases to amaze me...' Looking back to the newbie, he saw her walking backwards and began to look at her ass as well. Not as attractive as Winny's...probably because he was so used to Winny...but it was still a nice ass. Chuckling, he turned and walked forward. After a few minutes of silence in the jungle, they would come across a river. "Good...someplace for us to drink...Rivers usually lead to the ocean or something don't they?" He said just stating some trivia. "Anyway...There's a mountain up ahead. It might have a few caves we might be able to hide in...and if any luck, we'll find the drug organization and get this whole mission over with so we can get out."

Winny knelt down next to the river and ran her fingers through it as the rest of the group approached. After Darian stated his comment she shook her head and stood up while wiping her wet fingers across her pants leg. Her brown eyes looked around as she answered him. "We're too far inland. This probably just empties out in a big lake somewhere or something. However," She then turned her head in the other direction where the stream was coming from. "The water is freezing. Part of that might be because its night, but cold water usually means its melted snow coming from the mountains. So all we have to do it follow the river and we'll most likely find a cave of some sort once we get into the mountains. Wolf packs, especially during breeding season, will make their dens near water."

Erika looked up at the sky thoughtfully. "If we're gonna follow the river, I suggest we stay within the tree line. Its pretty out in the open right here and who knows, those bugs might come along for a drink of water."

Nathan nodded. "True...true...we should stay in the forest. I mean...we don't know exactly how durable those bugs are, moreover because the helicopter didn't put up a fight against them. I think the fact that they stopped buzzing when the helicopter fell would show that they died with the explosion." He said shrugging. "When you're ready...we'll be off. Unless..." His eye seemed to gleam. "We have a whole week to get this job done before the military just raids the camps and the villages around...I think we have enough time to bathe before we get going...don't you think?"

When Darian mentioned the bugs dying in the explosion, her thoughts briefly went back to the extra smoke and strange green flame of the crash. Her thoughts then rapidly snapped back when Darian made the comment of taking a bath. She raised an eyebrow at him and then gave Winny a look that silently asked "is he serious?" Winny smiled as she nodded and answered Erika's silent question out loud. "Sadly, yes. He is." She then turned to Darian and patted his shoulder as she walked passed him. "Lets find shelter first. Don't want a bug bitin' off your head with your pants down, hm?" She then winked at him and walked back into the woods. Leaving him to decide which head she meant. Erika could only laugh as she followed. She knew these two would be a funny bunch.

Darian rubbed the back of the head on his shoulders as he listened to Winny. Chuckling, he began to follow her. "Alright then Winny...you take point and lead us to this cave. If you're so sure its where you're taking us." He said chuckling as he looked to Erika. "Hey Newbie, get up here and cover the point with Winny. I'll take the rear..." 'Now and later...heheh...' He turned and began to cover the backside of the troupe with his pistol...not much but better than nothing. He was a sharpshooter, a pistol was still very deadly in his hands despite its comparison to the other guns they had.

Winny nodded back at him and began to sort of scout ahead. Staying well in sight of both Erika and Darian as she watched the shadows between the tree's with the night vision of her scope. Erika poked Darian's nose as she passed him and said "I have a name you know." And followed after Winny with her shotgun held firmly in both her hands.

About two-three hours before the sun would begin to rise, Winny smiled and ran off across the now-more-shallow river; skipping on the stones and peeked over the surface. "Winny!" Erika called out and ran after her as Winny vanished between the trees.

Darian chuckled and rubbed his nose when Erika poked it. Watching their asses and covering the rear at the same time. Eventually growing bored but still not letting his guard down, he decided to try and spice up the mood a bit. Walking up to them, he was about to squeeze between them and lay a hand on their asses but Winny began to run off. Wondering what she was up to, he began to race after her. "Erika come on! She's found something!" 'Or something's attracting her...!' He made a mad dash trying to catch up to her.

({Imma throw a lil mythology in this. An sorry so long =3 I had fun with this post lol})

Darian brushed passed Erika just before the river and then halfway across the river, Erika slipped on a wet rock and fell to the freezing river. "Fuck!!" She exclaimed as she quickly stood up again. Standing there for a moment, she clenched her fists to overcome the tremendous shivering that was trying to take hold of her nerves. Gritting her teeth, she looked up in time to see Darian vanish as well. "Damn it." She grumbled as she holstered her shotgun in order to better get herself out of the river. She felt the urge to call out to both members of her team but bit it down when she heard a twig snap behind her. Freezing where she stood, which was about three steps away from the shore, she listened intently. The water rushed passed her legs from her shins-down; the slight breeze that fluttered lazily along felt like a sheet of ice brushing her wet skin and clothes. Then at the sound of rustling leaves, she withdrew her shotgun and spun around, the moment her eyes laid on something that looked like it didn't belong with the rest of the scenery, she fired a single shell.

At the same time, Winny finally stopped in front of a rock wall. She slowly came to a stop and stared at it with sheer bewilderment in her eyes. She could've sworn this rock wall had a cave. No, she KNEW she saw it. She never took her eyes off it. . . and yet when she came into the clearing it was not there. She doesn't even remember the transition of noticing the cave wasn't there. Just the memory of seeing it, running to it, and then now. Like there was a piece of memory missing. But how could that be? Before she could ponder more, she heard a deep growling. Hoping it was a wolf of some sort defending their den, Winny turned around almost calmly. After all, wolves were no strange thing to Winny. She used to play with a whole pack of wolves back home. But when she turned, her eyes were met with a pair of red eyes that belonged to no wolf. At least none that Winny had ever seen. It had sort of the body build of a wolf, but it was almost as big as a grizzly bear. Its body was covered in scales except its head which seemed to have a mini-lion's mane. Iguana-like spines ran down it's back, each almost as long as her own arm. It crept forward on clawed feet as its furry but snake-like tail swayed side to side with each step. It's lips curled back in a snarl as an unnatural growl gurgled from its throat. Its whole mouth was full of razor sharp teeth but there were two near the front that were particularly long and sharp. Most likely used to rip out the throat of its victims. Winny's nature-savvy mind snapped seconds before the creature made its move. Recognizing its stance as a pouncing one, she managed to dodge its leap in time by barrel rolling to the side. It stopped just before the wall and faced her again. Winny, who had earlier put her rifle away as she ran, now pulled out her desert eagle and began firing at the beasts head while she was in a kneeling position.

Hearing bullets being fired, Nathan ran faster before entering the battlefield, watching Winny shoot at the wolf-like grizzly bear creature that was attacking her. Taking up his pistol, Nathan began to empty rounds into the beast as well. "Winny! I got your six! Just run and shoot and it can't get you!" He said as he began to try and distract the creature by shooting at it like crazy. "Dammit newbie! Where are you! Get the hell over here and help out!"

Winny didn't see Darian but she heard his voice and did as she was told. Getting into a full standing position as she saw the bullets from his weapon sink into the creatures flesh, she began to run sideways while shooting at him. As the beast turned to roar at Darian, Winny moved to get behind it to flank it.

Erika barely heard her captain behind her. She did hear the gunshots loud enough and urged to run to their aid, but she dared not turn her back on whatever was stalking her. She could feel its eyes upon her and her whole body tingled with the feel of being in danger. She cocked a new shell into place; the old one falling into the river with a small 'splonk'. After a few seconds she knew she couldn't just stand here and wait for either the creature to attack or for her comrades to be dead. Which ever came first, if not both. She Erika began to slowly step backward out of the river, her eyes constantly scanning the scene in front of her. If she got far enough away, maybe the creature would finally attack.

Darian growled as he began to shoot clip after clip of bullets into the beast. "Damn damn damn!" He reached to his belt and pulled off one of the grenades on it before pulling the pin on it. He rushed toward the creature with a blood roar before he slammed the grenade into the beast's open mouth before he barrel rolled away from the beast. "Winny! Get to cover! This is gonna be messy!" He cried out as he began to run toward the forest to avoid the explosion.
