Invasion form the outer rim. [LordTex & Frelance]

Kane studied the view screen then looked behind him at the Cadet. "Make a list of everything that that we will need and if they have anything in the bunker and bring it up here. Also I want a copy of their databases." He stopped to think for a minute as he watched the yard get bigger. "Ask them to bring up anyone who worked in the ship yards that they can find or anyone we could use."

"Agreed, as soon as we are in position I want anyone we have who knows how to operate those machines out there and repairing her. Anyone who is not helping with the repairs I want them to scout the debris fields for the most in tacked ships. If it can be salvaged I want it marked and documented." If he could get the ship yard to start producing ships again but still have it look like it was dead it could go a long way later on.

The cadet nodded and got to work sending messages. The helmsmen skillfully brought the ship about and in front of the carrier He paused a moment looking at his own screens. "...We wont be able to dock with the ship, but we can dock with the yard and get to the ship through the yard." he turned to him. "while were in there we can also try and reactivate the ships maintenance programs and give her a jump start Leiutenn...." he paused and glanced at his collar "...Captain." he smiled.

After a few Minutes the cadet had gotten the group of survivors to hop into a transport and start their assent. She'd also gotten the engineers in the engine room to list their skills towards piloting and operating shipyard craft and she was surprised by their diversity. "Sir, we've got Fifteen crew members and Specialists that are able to do our mechanical work."

Kane walked back over to the captains chair. "Alright dock us as close to the ship as possible. Then I want to transport all supplies that we will need to the Carrier once we have it under our control." He nodded at the mention of the automatic repair systems. "Those will be useful, get them running as soon as you can." He noticed the correction he made gave him a small smile and a nod then sat down again.

He looked up at the Cadet and listened to her report. "Good, as soon as we dock I want them to get to work. Divide the rest of the crew up into two groups. One to move supplies over to the ship and the second group I want to search the station for anything that we will need."

The cadet started organizing the new work staff and getting them to move to the airlock. The Helm's men brought the ship up and close to the carrier, he sent the signal to start the hard dock, and after a few moments he relayed "Docked to the port side hard point." he started to shut down his console. The ship started to quiet, the hidden sounds of the engine now quieting.

The Tac officer reported in "The planet's survivors report they've lifted off from the surface and are on their accent with three Valkyrie ships and seven Thunderbolt's MK. II."

"Good, shut down all systems except for life support." He thought for a minute then added. "I want all the bodies of our fallen brought to the Carrier." He was going to give the men and women that had died a proper barely.

He then turned to the Tac officer. "When you can give me a list of the ships that would be best suited for combat." Even a Carrier traveled with escorts, and if he had it his way so would his.

He waited until the crew had started to leave the bridge and the Captains body had been transported before he shut down his console and followed after them. He made sure that everyone was off the ship. After picking up his things he left the ship with two marines that had been following him since he left the Bridge.

When he got to the Carrier he made his way to the Captains quarters but only stayed long enough to drop off his things off then made his way to the bridge.

The carrier was brand spanking new. The deck shined, the glass was invisible. It was still off though. People moved to the important sections of the ship and sat waiting. Several of the engineers went to the yard's power generator and spooled it up. It was several minutes before the tac officer gave the go ahead to jump start the ship. Their was a lot of groaning coming form everywhere. Lights flickered and the ship shuttered and started up. Lights illuminated the large bridge.

Unlike the cutter, the Carrier wasn't designed for fast tactile maneuvering, and therefore the main officers on the bridge had no seats. Their was a Three Tier system in place, the first tier, or lower level was for the main bridge staff, The DRADUS and halo table was in the center for the captain. The communication interface was there along with the damage control center off to the side. The second tier was Fighter control, engine watch, and the pilot's interface. The third tier was crew and ground control, maintenance, and the main reporter's chair.

The tac officer looked around a little worried "Sir, i don't think we'll have enough manpower to use other ships, we'll be stretched thin as it is."

Kane ran his hands over the edge of the halo table then looked to the Tac officer. He did not like it but if the officer told him that they were stretched thin he would have to believe him. He thought for a minute as he looked around the bridge then back at the Tac officer. "Okay but I want the ship to be hidden here until we can find a use for its weapons or get the man power to repair it."

He looked around until he saw the Cadet. "How long until I can see the database's that I requested from the troops on the planet?" He keyed in a few commands to makes sure he was familiar with how the halo table worked before he actually needed to use it. He watched the progress of the ships as they ascended. "Put a estimated count down until the ship is ready to leave the dock." He did not want to stay here longer than he needed.

The tac officer nodded "Your not going to be happy. There's a frigate in the debris field that looks Ok, but its not responding to anything. There's also an few Corvettes that are docked in the station, but some of the staff are saying that it's been contaminated by the nuke." the cadet put up a clock that read '20.36.12' and started counting down.

She spoke after the Tac officer. "The pilots are coming into our front launch bay."

Kane nodded to the Tac officer. "Make a list of any supplies we can take from the ships. Also I want to know how much storage we have available." He was going to take everything he could when he left. He had a feeling they would need everything the could get their hands on.

"I want to see their leader when they have landed." He turned to the Cadet. "Is there any signs of civilians on the planet?" He would give everyone a chance to get off the planet but he knew he could only take people who would be useful to him, that is if he was able to get anyone.

One of the Dradus officers spoke up "The radiation is blocking a lot of out scans sir. Its hard to tell." he went back to work watching space.

The Comm officer spoke after him to confirm. "I'm not picking up any transitions from this side of the planet sir. As far as i can tell there are none." He was still getting himself orientated on the controls.

The Tac officer nodded and went to work getting lists and compiling a file.

The cadet reached under her desk and pulled out a large data pad. Then took a minute looking for where to plug the thing in. After searching her console she found a wireless code and frowned in approval. She downloaded the pilots profiles and all the information they had on the civilians they were bringing up. "Sir, the files you requested." she handed him the data pad.

"Just get the do the best you can." He walked around towards the communications station. "Okay. Keep listening and send out a short message telling people we are here."

He turned and took the data pad from the Cadet and started scanning through them. He started to sort them into groups according to their skills. When he had finished he brought it back to the Cadet. "I want a slight of Valkrys searching the planets surface for survivors asap. Then get these assignments sent out." He walked back to the holo table and as he looked over the image that was displayed he added. "Station a Valkry just outside of the radiation cloud and try to boost the Dradus. Have it run cold. I don't want them to give away their position if possible." He went back to the picture and switched it to play back the battle that they had just barely escaped from. He started to study the video and tried to see any weak spots on the ships.

The officer's got to work. The play back he was watching didn't tell them a whole lot. Like most ships, there ships were armored on top more then the bottom. They had Laser weapons of some sort, and used them in combination with conventional ballistic weapons. Their fighters were small swept back wing craft and mostly stuck to machine guns and missiles. The ship that attacked their battle ship was similar to a broad side. By the time they made one pass their fire had eaten through half the ship, almost Bypassing its Polarized hull plating. The other ships met similar fates to the hands of frigates. The fleet's fighters were quickly shot out of the air by pin needle sized lasers from a single ship shaped like an egg.

After an Hour their new pilot's CAD came onto the bridge. He walked up to the captain and saluted "Sir, Commander Derrik reporting as ordered." he was a short man with black hair and stubble across his chin. His fight suit was decorated with several flight certification pins.

When Kane finished with the recording he stood up straight and walked over to the Tac officer. He tapped him on the shoulder and said. "Come on I need your opinion on something." He walked back to the Holo table and looked at the Tac. "I need a XO and your it." He went silent for a minute to make sure it sank in then he said. "I want you to look over the tape and tell me what you think. I don't care what you think just give me every detail."

He turned to the Cadet. "What is the status on the Valkrys?" He wanted to get the ships out as soon as possible. He would feel a hell of a lot better if he had as many people as he could on the ship.

He had went back to the Holo table but turned around and saluted the CAD then said. "At ease Commander. I am Capitan Kane Arnos. Now can you tell me what happened and how long ago you were attacked?" He moved so Derrik could get closer to the Holo Table.

The Tac officer, Tyson Fleance, followed him over to the table the LT listened and almost lost his socks when he mentioned he needed an XO, "...oh..." he paused and turned to the recording "...Ill try sir..." he started to study the holo recording, contemplating how many mistakes he could make in a few minutes in command of the ship. He didn't think he was the right choice for the position and it was clear on his face.

The cadet let the CAD's appearance spaek for its self, not wanting to insult the Captain's deductive abilities. She went back to work communicating with the work crew outside that was working rapidly to install the large section of hull plating and the FTL drive.

The Cad dropped his salute "It happened about a week and a half ago, it was a normal day and then we were nuked out of no where, no warning, no reply to our commander's surrender. We tried to save as many as we could." he looked at the holo table and nodded "that's what the ships looked like. Their fighter craft are tough even in Atmo. sir." he shook his head looking at the battle play out over the table. After the recording was done playing through he leaned towards the commander "Sir, if i could have a word with you in private and after we enter jump space." his voice was a low low whisper.

Kane listened then nodded with a grim look on his face. "Of course. Do you know if this ship was named before the attack occurred? Other than that you can either stay here and look over the tapes we have for any thing you may gather or go back to your pilots. But once we are in jump report to my quarters." Once he had his answer he went back to the table and watched the rest of the video with Tyson and waited until it was over to see what he came up with.

"I'll return to my pilots and get a patrol cycle started." The cad saluted and stepped away. He was looking forward to serving under someone so competent. He wouldn't let him down.

Tyson had seen the fatal flaw in the battle and pointed it out quickly. "The Polarized plating on the battleship," he pointed. ", and the carrier," he pointed again. "were not activated. Those were our heavy hitters. The plating should take ten seconds to power up, and they didn't so much as polarize the bridge. I suspect electronic warfare" he turned to the captain surprised by his own analysis.

Kane looked up at Tyson. "I didn't notice that." He rolled back the film until he pointed out the weaknesses in the alien ships armor. "I noticed the armor on the bottom of the ship is the weakest." He then watched it again to make sure Tyson was right. "We should analyse the sensor data to see if there is anything that will prevent the same thing from happening to us." He gave Tyson a small nod and a smile. "Good thing you noticed it." He spoke low so only Tyson would be able to hear him.

After a moment's confusion he leaned in and whispered to "Yes, well we better not rely on this ship's polarized armor. We need a specialist who deals with electronic warfare." he leaned out and turned to his station already thinking of looking for one.

Seconds later their was a loud thud and the ship vibrated The cadet answered to it. "That's the FTL drive...." their was another thud, this one louder and it shook the ship more. "And that's the hull plating. It will take another few minutes to get it secured and ready sir."
