A Darker Shade of Night: Dragondancer+BlisteredBlood

For the most part, Heishiro continued to just stand there with a protective hand down on Rosalie's shoulder while narrowing his eyes at the juggler as he continued to dance with the metal and flame. There was still something off about all of this, something that he couldn't get a full grasp of just yet, but then again, everything about this guy just seemed rather off in his book. But what?

But just as he continued to think this out, a familiar voice would soon greet his ears, making Heishiro jump a bit out of shock then turned his attention over to the same vampire he had gotten to know so well. "Good to know you showed up." Heishiro answered Laela with a nod of his head before casting the juggler a sideways glance despite a good majority of him was still wanting to know what that looks was all about. Not for nothing, but nobody in their right minds would give that kind of look towards him and not have something more behind it. But before he could inquire any further about it, Heishiro would soon be directed away from the area and towards another part of the kids' section of the festival.

"Some acts we we got here, huh?" Heishiro asked with a brow raised.

Laela looked over Rosalie’s head at Heishiro and nodded in answer to his question, giving him an intent, meaningful look. Something is not quite right here... her eyes spoke to him as she focused internally on the vague sensation of slowly creeping unease that had begun to descend over her. She couldn’t quite determine that there was a specific danger, but the heavy, oppressive feeling of dread weighed on her psyche, like the bloated heaviness of air just before a massive thunderstorm.

Smiling faces, intriguing aromas and vibrant music swirled around them as the trio moved through the festive crowd. As they approached the games area, Rosalie was distracted by a pleasingly plump jovial clown in a sunny yellow costume, his large hands squeezing and twisting long balloons into an ambiguous animal shape. Behind them, Beniamin navigated his way toward them through the throngs of people, sidling up beside Laela and giving Heishiro a brief nod. Noticing the tense lines of Laela’s body and the intenseness in her eyes, Beniamin gave her a questioning look. In reply, Laela asked - or rather politely demanded, “Beniamin, how about you keep watch over Rosalie while Heishiro and I...explore.” Raising his eyebrows even higher in further question, Beniamin nevertheless nodded his agreement and moved to stand closer to where Rosalie was interacting with the clown.

Looking at Heishiro, Laela squeezed his shoulder briefly, “Let’s go see what may find us, shall we?” She then began slowly walking away from the children’s area and down the sidewalk of the main street, glancing into doorways and down alleyways as they went, muscles tensed and ready and her senses straining to track down the source of her unease.
