She had always hated that coppery taste. She could vividly recall every instance in which she'd lost a tooth and felt the bitter tang of blood hit her tongue and now, it was all around. She could feel it drying on her hands and face. She could smell it and yes, she could taste it. It was a sensory overload, to say the very least and Lexie felt the distinct urge to vomit violently. She didn't, though. She remained as she had been for several hours, rigid and stony, as if she were robbed of life.

If she had dared to shift her gaze, her bright blue eyes would fall upon the crumpled, ungainly heap of limbs that made up the lifeless body of her stepfather. A large crimson pool had gathered under his body and seemed to be making its way towards her but she took no notice. She didn't even seem to notice it when the police arrived. Everything was merely background noise, drowned out by the steady sound of her beating heart as it thumped painfully in her rising and falling chest. Needless to say, she was finding it difficult to breathe.

"Check on the young woman."

"She seems shaken up. Possible suspect?"

"We'll find out."

Lexie was unaware of the approaching male and unresponsive to his questioning. The world was becoming no more than a blur as she teetered on the brink of insanity and unconsciousness. Her grip loosened under her arms and there was a loud clang as something fell to the wooden floor.

"Hey Mac, you should take a look at this."

Detective Taylor walked over calmly and set his eye on the fallen knife that was covered in blood. He surveyed Lexie quietly for several moments before raising a hand to beckon someone over.

"Flack, this young woman looks as though she might faint." For now, he seemed content on not mentioning the very obvious fact that she was their prime suspect. Nothing could be said without every last detail and right now, all that mattered was getting her to talk and that wouldn't happen if she passed out on them.

Too late. With no indication whatsoever, Lexie's eyes rolled at the back of her head as she fell forward while the world went mercifully black.

Donald Flack, Jr. glanced up when he heard his name spoken and walked inside the house then glanced up to the female that was teetering between collapsing and possibly even insanity from the way those eyes of hers were. Wide open with horror and possibly on the verge of puking up the contents of whatever she ate if she hadn't done so already. When he also walked over to her, she had fainted dead away, causing him to sigh indifferently and shook his head.

"Might as well get her to a hospital for now." Flack answered as he then stood up before getting a set of gloves from one of the other officers here then slipped them on before he went back over and picked up the bloody knife from the floor, examining it closely. The weapon in question was a butcher's knife; stainless steel, black handled grip.

Standing up, he looked over to the corpse that might have been on the receiving of this weapon, seeing that there was multiple stab wounds on the torso, some directly in the chest.

"So, what do you make of it, Taylor?" He asked him directly.

Mac motioned for assistance and watched with a slight frown as they checked the girl's vitals before carrying her out. On the outside, it looked very much like an open and shut case. There was the apparent murder weapon, fallen from the bloodied hand of a possible suspect. But was it a guilty hand? Well, that was what they were here to find out.

He knelt down by the body, wordlessly taking the weapon from Flack's hand as he studied the dead male who appeared to be in his late 40s. Rigor mortis, he noted. He'd estimate that the man had been dead for at least four hours. "Stab wounds appear to be consistent with the blade but it all seems to fit a little too well. Be sure to have a chat with the girl when she comes to. We got a name?"

While the others checked the remainder of the house, Mac rose to his feet just as Stella came up beside him. "I've got Lindsay and Danny out by Coney Island working on another homicide. For now, do me a favour and take a close look upstairs. We might just find what we're looking for in a bedroom."

"I'm on it," Stella replied, heading up the stairs.

Mac took a step back, briefly glancing at a picture of their vic that rested atop the fireplace. The man looked proud and sharp in a tailored suit. What a mess.

"Yeah, I'll take care of it." Flack answered Mac with a nod of his head as he then walked over to the corpse once more and looked it over. Sure enough, the wounds were pretty consistent with the type of blade, but for some reason, it did look like it was pretty much open and shut. He didn't know how or why, but maybe with some time in the labs and with the medical examiner, there would be a reason behind this all.

"As for a name, the most we can get is get out of her for now is Leslie. We'll have to run her prints through the database and see what we'll get." He added as he then went upstairs with Stella once he was directed.

Once upstairs, Flack began meandering around in the usual places, starting in the closet in silent thought.
