Charlotte, or Charlie as most people knew her, glared at the dark sky and cursed the fact that she hadn't brought either a rain coat or an umbrella with her. The forecast had been for clear skies and a mild night, but she should have known better than to trust the damn forecast in the first place. Now, instead of enjoying a mild early fall evening, she stood, shivering in the increasingly heavy rain, waiting for the bus.

She wrapped her arms about her body as the now soaked through blouse clung to her full breasts, nipples pebbled within the scant protection of the cups of her bra. Her black skirt hung heavy about her thighs, plastered to her legs as she rubbed her arms and hoped, for once, that the bus would be on time. But even as she glanced at her watch she knew it was a foolish hope. So, there she stood, her long red hair bound up in a braid that kept it away from her face, her formal golf club waitress uniform now sopping wet, and no sign of the bus.

Not even a shelter, or a tree. Fine, she couldn't make one appear out of nowhere. Cursing wouldn't change that and she had to find a way to keep the chill from sinking even deeper into her bones. So, with a growl she turned and began to pace, rubbing her arms with near numb hands…

He knew that all black with a long black leather jacket was a freakishly cliché thing for a vampire to be wearing but that didn't bother Vincent at all. In fact he stuck with the old stuff because he liked them, long black hair that feel to his shoulders, pale skin with what could be called regal features and piercing blue eyes... up until the last century people had figured out what he was quite quickly but since the start of the twentieth century people had forgotten what he was and no one even guessed that he was a vampire rather then just someone who enjoyed wearing a great deal of black and giving off an odd vibe.

He was new in town, and he needed a new pet. Unlike most vampires Vincent wasn't fond of just hunting and killing with every meal, that was how one got hunters on their trail and that was the last thing that he wanted... he preferred to stay in one place for as long as he could, keeping a single thing to play with the entire time that he was there. Keep them alive and play with them, because a meal was so much more satisfying when one knew how to enjoy it completely.

As he drove through the streets slowly he looked around, the classic muscle car he used growling as it made its way around. The window rolled down allowed him to hunt with scent but the rain dampened it... however he still found her, it appeared she was waiting for a bus but none appeared to be nearby. “You look like you could use a ride.” He said with a smile as he pulled up next to her.

Charlie blinked against the rain as she turned toward the car. The heavy rain clung to her long lashes, shielding her emerald eyes to some extent but even then she found it difficult to see in the growing storm. Did she know the car? She paused for a moment before answering the man, all too well aware that the longer she stood out here the colder she would become. But even with that in mind she wasn't about to do something foolish.

"Thanks, but no thanks. No offense, but I don't know you." She flashed an apologetic smile at the driver and caught a full look at him when the rain eased for a moment. Handsome, yes, but not in the way that they portrayed in movies, he was too pale for that. Not that it mattered, she still didn't know him from Adam. "Hopefully that bus will be here soon." She shivered as the clouds re-opened with a vengeance and she looked up, glaring at the sky. Just what had she done to deserve this?

She'd need a long, hot soak in the tub, and a good glass of wine, or something stronger, to defeat the cold when she did make it home. Even then she'd be fighting a chill that could leave her miserable by tomorrow morning.

She had more brains then he thought she would, he had figured someone dumb enough to be standing out in the cold like she was would be more then dumb enough to get into a car with a total stranger. Pity she hadn't done it the easy but Vincent really didn't mind, he would have fun with this one. There was no one around to see him hunting her, this time of night the bus not even be coming which would just make her the victim for someone else sooner or later. Sometimes the hard way was much more fun then the easy way.

Pulling ahead a little bit he moved the car to the shoulder of the road and slowly climbed out of it, stretching a little bit as he did just to seem a tad more intimidating. With a smirk crossing his features and showing his fangs a little bit he began to approach her, taking his time as he did. “Really you are going to be getting in the car with me pet.” He said with a small chuckle as he drew closer to her, soon he would just grab her and drag her into the car with him. “If you do it willingly then I wont hurt you as much as I will if you try to run from me.”

Charlie looked up the street for any sign of the bus, then glanced back in the direction the car had gone. It was still there. For a moment she tried to squash the panic that flared into life, but all attempts failed as the man got out of the car and walked toward her. Instinctively she took a step back, and her heart threatened to block her throat as he flashed fangs and spoke.

Fangs! Not possible! But there was no denying what she'd seen, or the threat he uttered. Pet, she was no man's pet. It just wasn't happening. The fangs had to be fake. Some sick idea of a joke, that was it. Vampires weren't real, everyone knew that…

She took three steps back, shaking her head as she moved. "Look, I don't know what you're playing at but I'm not getting in that car with you. Not now. Not ever." One hand moved toward her purse to find the pepper spray she carried. She'd spray him and run, then report that bastard to the cops. But for that she'd need his license plate number and that's when she made the mistake of taking her gaze away from the man to look at the car again…
