Mission Codename: Cannon Fodder (BlisteredBlood & Devxx)

Eris leaned one elbow against the window as she held on to the steering wheel tightly with her other hand. The silence was still hanging heavily in the air and whatever friendliness she had from yesterday was gone. Her mind was reeling trying to keep track of all the lies she had told him so far. Anyone else would have probably had trouble keeping track of the truth from the fiction but years of experience had made it simple for her. Besides, when you really thought about it the whole concept of what was true and what wasn't could be very blurry. It was all about perception and changed from one person to another.

Years ago, when she had first started she had actually felt bad about lying to people's faces and using them for her own means. Life was hard though and she learned quickly that it was either use or be used. Now she could just smile happily and pretend to give a shit while the whole time just thinking about her own agenda. Sure Thanatos might be stronger and faster but socially he sucked and would probably scare off most people around him. All she really had to do was smile and act nice and she could get them to follow her all the while thinking it was their own ideas. There were moments when she actually felt guilty about it but those moments were few and far between and would usually fade just as quickly as they came.

After some time, Thanatos pulled his hand away from his face as he looked out the window in thought. He could make a dive out of the car right now and he would just vanish off the face of the earth like he always did and forget about this whole idea of him having to go through with this plan of hers in the first place. Besides, she already knew what he was capable of and how his abilities were triggered. The more that he continued to think about it, the more it seemed like it was perhaps one of the better ideas that he had in a long time.

"Sorry about this, Eris." He said without another word as he then threw a fist into the window, causing glass to splinter outward. From there, he then adjusted himself so that his upper body was now sticking out of the window with one foot resting on the sill and the other was down on the seat. He looked about as he saw traffic coming by at their usual paces, deciding on picking a time when it was "safe" enough for him.

When it was clear, Thanatos then leaped out of the car, sailing through a lane and a half of the highway before he fell onto the front of his body then began tumbled end over end wildly into the thicker part of the wooded area.

She turned the wheel sharply to the left as he shattered the glass and hoped out the window. It took the girl a moment to realize that he had just jumped out of a moving car into the woods that surrounded the highway. Pulling off to the side of the road she looked around and couldn't even catch sight of him. "Fuck." She yelled angrily as she slammed her hand down on the steering wheel in frustration. Everything was going fine until Abassi stepped in and ruined everything. Now she had to figure out where Thanatos was and restrain herself from putting a bullet in his skull. This mission was becoming more and more frustrating by the moment and now she had to go on a wild goose hunt for the man.

Pulling out her cellphone she dialed a number angrily before waiting for someone to pick up. "He's gone!" She barked in the phone to the man on the other end. "Everything was fine until Abassi fucked it up and now the subject has disappeared into the woods. Yes, I managed to get a tracker on him yesterday but there's no way I'm going to be able to convince him to come along willingly." Eris had done well on her plan and had managed to place a tracker on him at the first opportune moment. It happened to be when she had hugged him last night and she had managed to put a bug on his coat. "I can get you the coordinates but send some grunts out here to hunt him down because I'm ready to shoot him." Her frustration was mounting with each passing minute as she pulled out a small device with a red dot on the screen and the coordinates of that dot.

"Wait, what do you mean Loki has already been sent?" Her tone was incredulous as she listened to the voice talk to her. "Abassi died less then an hour ago, how could he possibly be sent out this early? Fuck! That rat was there the whole time wasn't he?" Shit, shit, shit! The fourth one had already been sent out and if she knew Loki the man was probably tracking Thanatos himself. Grabbing her things out of the back of the car she left it on the side of the road and made her way to the wooded area as well. The red dot kept blinking angrily as she tried following it through the trees and foliage. If she managed to catch up to him it would take a miracle and even then she didn't know what she would do once she found him.

Once Thanatos stopped tumbling, he lay still for maybe a few moments before his eyes reopened slowly, coming to in the middle of a forest. As he felt himself around, he found that there was no serious cuts or anything on him, save for a small cut on his cheek. However, as he felt on his coat, there was something that was a bit out of place. Something small and possibly metallic from the looks of things.

Upon closer inspection, he found what appeared to be a tracer of some sort, causing him to narrow his eyes at it with a great deal of frustration. That bitch lied to him again. As much as he thought about crushing it in his hand and thereby reducing her chance of finding him, he had another idea. Thanatos cold place this tracer on something else entirely and completely throw them off his trail for good while he made a break for it. It was perfect.

"I wonder what else you're keeping from me, Eris..." He muttered to himself as he placed the tracer in his coat pocket and then proceeding to start making a mad dash through the woods. He didn't care where they went, all he knew was that he just had to move quickly.

She looked at the red dot and let out a heavy sigh as it started moving faster then before. With the rate that he was going she would never be able to catch him and even if she did, then what? Leaves crackled under her shoes as she ran blindly into the woods with only her tracker to tell her where to go. Ducking under a low hanging branch she tried to get her mind together before deciding what to do next. Thanatos had made it perfectly clear that he didn't want to go anywhere near her and short of knocking him out and tying him in the back seat she had no idea on how to possibly get him to Chicago. This mission had been a pain from the very beginning and all she wanted to do was just give up and go home. That wasn't an option though and he'd never let her.

Suddenly a flash of silver caught her eye as she walked over to one of the branches and pulled down a small silver pendant. It was very light and had a symbol of a snake formed into an S. She'd seen this symbol countless times before and knew that he had to be here. Of course Loki would have a head start over her and was probably right on Thanatos' trail. He could have easily hijacked her tracer and had probably been following them since before Abassi even showed up. "Shit." she muttered as she pocketed the pendant and looked around wildly. Sai and Abassi might have been strong but they were also dumb as shit and let their emotions easily overtake them. What Loki might lack in physical strength he more then made up for mentally and this battle was going to be very different from the last ones.

Tree branches shifted above Thanatos as the wind blew through the forest. Everything about the scene looked relatively normal but if anyone really paid attention they might realize that there was something missing. That missing thing was sound. In such a heavily wooded area you'd expect to hear birds chirping or squirrels running around on the ground but sadly none could be seen or heard. It was almost as if nature had decided to leave the area because something was there that shouldn't be.

As Thanatos kept moving through the forest, his pace began to slow down every once in a while when he heard the branches above him beginning to shift and rustle above him, possibly from the wind. But the one thing that stood out here the most was that there was nothing else. No woodland rodents scurrying around, no birds chirping from the trees, nothing. Much to the old cliche that was used from times in the past, it was quiet. Far too quiet. Looking into his pocket, Thanatos took the tracer out of it then looked at once more before narrowing his eyes at it then began to look for a place to discard it for him to move onward. The last thing he needed to do was to have someone following him.

With a glance to his right, he spotted a large enough tree to toss it to and with one good throw, Thanatos tossed the tracer at it, the small device sticking to the bark easily before he nodded to himself. That's the last of that. Now I need to keep moving. But I should be careful. There's no telling what's here with me. He thought as he then glanced from side to side with the same cautious look before he began to move once more, minding the scattered leaves and branches that littered the ground below him.

Dammit, something was really wrong now. The red dot that had been moving so quickly had now stopped completely and wasn't moving from it's spot. No way could he have gotten tired already and decided to rest. Maybe it had brushed off on one of the trees when he was running or maybe he had found it and was trying to throw her off his trail. Shit, this was really bad. Now she had no way of tracking him but she didn't doubt for a moment that Loki had already found him. Fuck, what do I do now? She thought angrily to herself as she moved her head this way and that trying to find some clue of where Thanatos had gone. For now she'd just have to get to the tracker and hope that there would be something there to lead her to him. Grunting slightly she took off in a full sprint towards the coordinates on the screen.

Brown eyes peered out from the tree tops as they looked down at the black figure moving below him. A small smirk appeared on his face as the man in the trees pulled out a gun and lined up his shot with that of the man in black. The gun was longer then normal and one look at it would tell you that it didn't contain bullets of the normal sort. No, instead it contained tranquilizers that could bring down a full grown elephant and would have no trouble falling a man of his size. Putting his finger to the trigger he aimed for the other man's neck before pulling the trigger as a small puff could be sounded as the dart headed towards Thanatos.

As Thanatos continued running, his ears picked up on the sound of something shot out of a silenced weapon and a projectile was heading his way. Reacting within the speed of a thought, he quikly reached a hand to his katana and delivered a ripper of a slash through the air, catching the sound of something metallic glancing off of it with an audible deflection sound before it dropped to the ground by his feet.

Looking down, Thanatos saw the object on the ground then knelt down to it, seeing that it was a dart of some kind. "Shit!" He hissed to himself before he looked from side to side. Someone was definitely here and it wasn't friendly. Without another word, Thanatos ran off in the opposite direction this time in a full out sprint with his katana out to his side.

The smirk was still present on the figures face as he watched the man slash through the air and cut down the dart. He had to admit that Thanatos was quite skilled with his sword but that wouldn't matter much. After all, Loki had no intention of even being seen by the other man and he was patient enough to wait him out. Sai and Abassi had been foolish and rushed head long into a battle with an enemy that could obviously overpower him. Loki would simply wait the other man out while keeping completely out of sight.

He got up and jumped onto another branch being surprisingly light on his feet. The whole time he kept his eye on Thanatos as he jumped from tree to tree while still trying to remain hidden in the thick leaves. Reaching into his pocket the man pulled out four metallic spheres there were about the size of a fist. Throwing them down on the ground after Thanatos they started smoking and releasing a thick fog that would soon make it almost impossible to see. Reaching into his other pocket Loki pulled out headgear the glasses attached and firmly placed them on his head. With one quick press of a button he could clearly see Thanatos body head through the fog while remaining invisible himself. Lifting the gun up once again the man fired another shot.

Thanatos came skidding to a halt when four metallic spheres were dropped onto the ground now, releasing a payload of dense smoke into the air around him and obscuring him within a thick mist. Dammit, dammit, dammit! He thought as he brought an arm up to his face for a moment before looking around once more. There was definitely someone here. It was more than likely a sniper or something, for no one in their right mind would use their tactics unless if they were trying to keep themselves out of sight.

A growl escaped him as he tightened his grip on the katana, looking side to side for anything around here that would seem out of place. Soon enough, another puff of air caught his ear followed by another whistling dart heading his way. Within the space of a thought once more, Thanatos swung again, cutting through the fog and knocking away the second dart once more.

I know you're here somewhere, sniper... It's just a matter of time before I find you and split you in half. He thought.

The man merely grinned as he watched the dart being cut down before it could reach it's target. Yes, this man was very good but that didn't really matter much now. Thanatos wouldn't be able to see anything while Loki could clearly see him through the fog with the thermal goggles in place. Still, this fog wouldn't hold out forever in such an open space and he really would like to get this done as soon as possible. Three more spheres were in his hand though they were very different from the one's before. They were a lot smaller in size and colored an almost translucent onyx. Throwing them down by Thanatos the spheres started to beep three times in rapid succession before exploding around him.

Eris looked up as she heard the sound of explosions coming to her right and could see smoke rising up above the trees. Shit, Loki must have found him already. She thought angrily as she started sprinting towards the direction of the fog. No doubt the man would be hidden somewhere and it would be suicide for her to just charge in unprotected. The smoke screen was obviously a cover to stay out of sight so Thanatos wouldn't be able to find him. The fog was getting thicker and thicker as she covered her mouth to keep from coughing. Reaching into her own pack she pulled out a pair of thermal goggles and slipped them on. The funny part was that it had actually been Loki himself who had given them to her.

With the goggles on she could clearly see a larger figure on the ground which she figured to be Thanatos but was having a hard time figuring where the other man was. He definitely wasn't on ground level so that meant he had to be above them somewhere. Looking up she could see the faintest trace of red as she moved in closer.

Soon enough, Thanatos's ears began to pick up on a new series of sounds this time, this coming in the form of three beeps from three objects. "Shit!" He seethed again before he moved out of the way of those objects before becoming moderately shell shocked by the explosions that rang out all around him.

"You know! Seriously! I'm getting a little fucking PISSED OFF!" Thanatos snarled angrily as he shook his head quickly, dispelling the shell shock after a little while. Soon enough, Thanatos's hand clenching the katana tightened up further before he grabbed the sheath, placing the katana inside of it for a moment and assumed a sort of iaijutsu stance. Soon enough, his sword hand began to vibrate little at a time before each muscle came to life on their own. Once it reached the right frequency, Thanatos's hand swung out what appeared to be three times. In truth and once time was slowed down enough, one could actually see that Thanatos drew out his katana and sliced through the air ten times faster than that. Ten of those slashes caused the fog to show a path where he thought the sniper might have been before another 290 in an enclosed air bubble ripped through the trunk of the tree he was on, felling it with the greatest of ease as if it was hit by a high powered chainsaw.

This idiot is going to destroy the whole damn forest at this rate. Loki thought incredulously as he looked over at the fallen tree. He had only just managed to escape and would have probably been a pancake on the ground if he had moved only a moment later. Shifting his position Loki moved from tree to tree, not trusting Thanatos enough to stay in one place for too long. If he didn't want to end up dead by that sword he would always have to be on the move. Through his goggles he could see that someone else had joined their little game. From the height and size it was probably Eris.

The girl stepped back as she watched the powerful attack being unleashed. That tree had probably been there for almost a hundred years and yet he snapped it like a twig. Dammit, if he kept flailing around like an idiot then it would only serve to tire himself out and give Loki more of an opportunity to get him. Edging around him until she was behind him she made sure to stay on the opposite side of his katana. "Calm the fuck down." Eris whispered angrily in his ear as her eyes shifted from side to side in an attempt to pin down Loki. "He's keeps moving and is just waiting for you to keep acting like a lunatic so he can take his shot." Dammit, now Loki was hopping back and forth between trees, never staying at one for more then a couple of minutes. Thanatos couldn't hit what he couldn't see and no doubt Loki probably had a few more tricks up his sleeve.

Suddenly there was another whizzing sound in the air as the man shot off another dart towards Thanatos. All this chaos was just making it easier for him to confuse them and throw them off their game.

From out of Thanatos's peripheral vision, there came a voice that he was all too familiar with. He merely glanced to the side when he heard Eris telling him to calm down enough unless if he felt like he was wanting to become target practice for whoever it was that was shooting at him and dropping explosives from. She definitely had a point. Whoever this sniper was was only aggravating him to a point where the slightest mistake would wind up being his last. "Alright, I'll go along with you. Just this once, however." Thanatos answered back with a quiet hiss of his own.

But before he spoke again, there was another shot heading in his direction. Without warning, Thanatos ducked down, stuck a leg out and then sweeped Eris's feet out from under her before he quickly stood back up and raised his katana once more, deflecting the next dart away from him.

"Where in the hell is this guy?!" He seethed again in a quiet voice.

"Dammit! Warn me next time you're going to do that." She yelled angrily as he kicked her feet out form under her and sent her falling to the ground. The dart landed half a foot away and would have probably hit them if they didn't drop. Loki was having too much fun playing with them and probably hadn't even gotten started. The man had quite an array of weapons and most of them he had customized himself so he could play with.

"Turn about twelve degrees to your left and you'll see him. He keeps moving in between the three trees there so if you fall the middle one you can cut off his path." Eris said as she looked up and could clearly see Loki moving above them. What they couldn't see was that the man had a grin on his face as he moved about. They were providing to be very amusing and Loki wasn't ready to give up his fun just yet.

"Shit, he's got more explosives." She grabbed Thanatos by the collar and pulled him to the side as Loki let out three more explosives that started blinking rapidly. There was no way they were going to be able to get him as long as the fog was still there.

"And what?! Let that gun crazy whackjob pick you off too?!" Thanatos snarled back before he heard her next direction. But just as soon as he turned those 12 degrees to the left, he was soon pulled to the side as three more explosives were tossed in their direction. "Oh fuck!" He spoke aloud before he then made a dive for Eris and tackled her to the ground about a foot and a half away before the explosives could reach them.

Once they detonated, Thanatos shook his head quickly to clear the debris that was on him as well as an attempt to clear the ringing in his ears. Not for nothing, but prolonged exposure to shell shock wasn't going to do anyone any good - even for him - in the long run. He needed to keep his eyes on the middle tree long enough for him to cut off the sniper's path.

From there, Thanatos lowered a hand onto the handle of his katana and once again assumed an iaijutsu style stance after taking in a steady breath then began to focus. In that focus time, Thanatos pictured the tree within the fog that he needed to knock down and without a moment of hesitation, he then lunged for the tree at a speed that was far more faster than he moved previously then drew his katana out, slicing through the tree within the space of a single motion.

Loki looked around wildly as the tree fell from under him and he went tumbling down to the ground. He would have fallen and snapped his neck but at the last moment he managed to turn his body so he landed on his feet with a thud. The tree fell around him but he managed to miss most of the branches. Shit, things had definitely gone bad for Loki and he had no intention of dragging this out any further. Being this close to Thanatos blade was not something he'd want to experience in the near future. Quick on his feet he moved around them as silently as he could without drawing more attention to himself. Loki berated himself for ever giving Eris those goggles if he had known this would be what it would lead to. He'd only have one shot left before the fog faded and he'd like to get the hell out of there way before that happened.

"You knocked him down." Eris said as she turned to her side where Loki was. He had actually managed to tear down that tree like it was nothing and brought Loki down where they could actually get their hands on him. Of course with the fog around it would be a lot harder for Thanatos to get at him. "I can't believe I'm doing this." Eris muttered to herself before she took off the thermal goggles and slipped them over Thanatos. She was pretty much leaving herself open to an attack but Thanatos had a better chance of taking down Loki then she did.

"Heh, you shouldn't have done that brat." Loki said with a grin as he pulled out his gun again. He might have a mission to get Thanatos but he had a personal grudge against Eris for setting up Abassi and Sai. Grinning like a mad man he threw out his last explosive and at the very last second he shot at Eris. The battle wasn't done yet but it would have to be finished sometime later since he planned on disappearing for now.

Thanatos gave a grunt when he felt those thermal goggles were thrown on over his face, thereby allowing him to point out exactly where the sniper was, only to see one more explosive lobbed their way as well as a gunshot aimed at Eris. Technically speaking, he could just go after him and leave Eris to get out of the way, but that explosive would present a bit of a problem for her if did go after him. He had to make a decision quickly however, because that gunshot wasn't going to wait around for anyone.

Reacting quickly, Thanatos stood in front of Eris and cocked his katana back then swung at the explosive at full force, smacking the flat side of the weapon against it and knocked it away, hopefully aiming it back at the man that was getting away from Thanatos. What he didn't have enough time for, however was the incoming gunshot that he wound up taking for her instead. The bullet made its mark cleanly into his shoulder, causing him to emit a shout of pain before he dropped to a knee, wincing at the pain harshly.

It happened so fast she could hardly keep track of what was going on. One moment it looked like Thanatos was going to rush at Loki and then the next he was on his knee in pain. The explosives sounded out in front of them but by now she guessed that Loki was long gone. For him this had merely been a test to see just what they were capable of and to make his presence known. He'd be back eventually and he'd be coming with new toys to test out on them. The fog was clearing and all she could see were trees everywhere. No matter if she ran off after him right now she wouldn't be able to catch him. Besides, she had bigger things to worry about right now.

Dropping down on her knees she leaned over to take a look at his shoulder. It had been a clean entrance and the bullet was still lodged in there. They'd have to find a way to get it out before they bandaged it up. "Take off your jacket and shirt." Eris commanded as she slipped off her pack and pulled out the first aid kit. Opening it she took out the bandages, gauze and the antiseptic. Healing the wound wasn't as much of a concern to her as actually getting the bullet out. There was no way they could leave it in there and it wasn't like she had anesthesia to numb down the pain. "You should have just let me take the bullet and gone after him." Eris muttered under her breath as she started to undo the bandages. Why did he step in and save her?

"This... This is nothing..." Thanatos answered with another wince as he looked over to his shoulder with a pained smile. "Besides, it's better if you keep that for yourself. I'd rather keep it that way for if in case something should happen to you." He added as he looked up to Eris even as she began to take out the necessities to patch him up. "Just give me something to dig out the bullet with and I'll be alright. If I'm lucky, I might be able to heal up on my own." He added as he looked up to her before looking back to his shoulder with another grimace of sorts as he began to remove his jacket carefully then reached his hands down to his shirt and began to remove it.

Why did he get in front of her, one would ask? It could've been because in some way, he could understand that maybe she was trying to help him despite he still had a lot of doubts about her. As a result, he decided to return the favor by doing what he did. He could've also done it due to an odd sense of karma that overtook his pride for a change. Either way, that was what he did and that was that.

"Nothing? I think right now you need it a lot more then I do." She brushed away a strand of hair as she took a closer look at the wound. Luckily it didn't look like anything major had been hurt and it shouldn't cause him permanent problems. For the time being it would hurt like hell but even that would go away eventually. "I can give you a switchblade and some cloth if you want to bite on it but I don't have any clamps to pull it out with." A frown was on her face as she looked over at him. Pulling out a small switchblade she handed it to him if he wanted to dig it out himself. There was also some extra cloth he could use if he wanted to bite on something to help with the pain.

Eris felt a pang of guilt as she looked over at him. He wouldn't be in this whole mess if it wasn't for her and would probably still be happy creeping around his warehouse if she had just left him be. At least she didn't have to worry about Loki coming back right now to finish the job. Right now though they just needed to worry about getting him healed up from the shot.

"Like I said, If I'm lucky, I might just heal up on my own." Thanatos answered with another pained grimace as he finally got his shirt off and lowered it to the ground then took the offered switchblade. Once he had it in hand, he pressed the trigger to make the small blade stick out before he carefully aimed it into his bullet wound then stuck it in, wincing loudly as he dug around for the bullet for a little while before he found it. "Got it...!" He groaned out as he then began to dig it out carefully, minding to not aggravate it anymore than it had been already.

It took him some time and some effort, but Thanatos finally got the bullet out of his shoulder then watched as it fell to the ground, stained in fresh blood. Looking over the hole the bullet left behind, he could see that it wasn't going to be much of a pain, but he had to know. The one thing all of the soldiers were given was a sort of regenerative property that allowed them to heal completely without leaving a scar. Sucks they hadn't thought much about bulletproof clothing, he thought after a moment. That would've also come in handy. Of course there was a drawback to this, namely the process couldn't be used to attach foreign limbs to and regenerate at the drop of a hat. It would only work if for some reason they lost an original limb and then stitch it back in place and then just find somewhere to rest for a long while as well as have something to eat on hand as they healed, something with plenty of vitamins, minerals and other such nutrients.

It took a while for it to kick in, but soon enough, Thanatos watched as he felt the wound start to seal up on its own. Slowly but surely, it did and there was no scar tissue left behind once it was finally closed. Once that was done, Thanatos gave his shoulder a steady roll, feeling a major deal of soreness and a stinging sensation, but that was about it. "I told you, Eris. I don't need normal first aid like you think I do. All I needed was just something to dig the bullet out with and that's that. The rest of which I can handle on my own." He said simply as he then picked the bullet up then looked at it before he stuck it in his pants' pocket before his stomach gave a growl.

"I hate to ask this at this time, but did you bring something for me to eat?" He asked, sounding a little embarrassed for even asking.

"No way." She said in awe as she watched the wound slowly heal over. Sure it took a bit of time but a bullet wound that would usually take at least a couple of weeks to heal on a normal person and still leave a scar had somehow managed to completely heal on him in such a short period of time. Admittedly her knowledge of all the soldier abilities was limited but the super fast healing was something she definitely didn't know about. Speed, strength and a regenerative property of this magnitude made him a greater force to be reckoned with then she had first imagined. Sure when they had met at the warehouse she had seen a small amount of his abilities but over the past few days that had been totally blown out of the water. All those abilities coupled with his temper could make him be an even greater danger if he ended up falling into the wrong hands.

She ran her hand gently over where the wound had previously been just to make sure it wasn't some optical illusion or her mind playing tricks on her. Nope, the skin was completely smooth and didn't even give a hint that it had had a bullet sized hole in it just minutes ago. "Geez, I think we've established the fact that absolutely nothing about you is normal." She said with a small sigh as she leaned back on her hands and watched him pocket the bullet.

Hearing his stomach growl, the girl couldn't help but giggle a bit as she looked over at him. After all that had happened today the fact that he was even hungry caught her completely by surprise. So apparently there was something human about him after all. "Oh come on, of course I have food. You should know that by now." She joked as she dug into her knapsack and pulled out some of the supplies she had bought earlier at the convenience store. "Hm, I have chips, candy, an apple, some juice and three different kinds of sandwhiches; turkey, ham and egg salad. Keep in mind I bought these at a truck stop so I'm not sure how much you'd want to trust the egg salad." Gently she laid out the food in front of him so he could help himself to whatever he liked.

After the two fights today no wonder he was hungry. Hell, she was surprised he wasn't completely passed out from all the energy he'd have to have exerted not only taking down Abassi but also running through the woods and playing tag with Loki. Every moment she spent with him she was starting to wonder if there was really a machine under that flesh. Reaching out she poked him on the arm just to make sure. "Seems real enough to me." Eris said though she didn't sound completely convinced.

Thanatos glanced over to Eris when she saw that his bullet wound had completely healed. A chuckle was his reaction as he rolled his shoulder out once more, wincing once more mostly due to the aggravating stinging feeling that was still present. "I told you." Thanatos answered with a small smile as he then watched as Eris took out the stuff from her backpack and laid it out in front of him. Some of which he could deal with, but the sweet stuff he could deal without. He decided on taking all three sandwiches, even going against the advice that was given to him about the egg salad. Without another word, Thanatos began munching away on the turkey sandwich first.

As he felt her poking his shoulder, he glanced over to Eris and arched a brow at her. "What's up? Something still there?" He asked. "You can poke that all ya want, but believe me. It's all real as anything else you've seen me do since we've been here." He added.

"Yeah, that's the problem. Everything I've seen you do you shouldn't be able to. I'm half convinced you're a figment of my imagination." It was meant to come off as a joke but there was a slight part of her that maybe believed it. She'd already seen him in situations where he should have died ten times over and yet he was sitting in front of her just eating his sandwich like a normal person. If they had ever passed each other on the street she would have just thought he was another regular guy without really knowing just what he could do.

Grabbing one of the candy bars she leaned back and started chewing as she looked around the forest. Plenty of the trees had been damaged by either his katana or by Loki's explosives and there was still a hint of fog off in the distance. The fact that they had managed to cause so much damage in such a relatively short amount of time was slightly terrifying. Just think what could have happened if this battle had taken place in a big city instead of the woods. "So you found the tracker huh?"
