Bane of Atlantis (Dutchy - Archer)

Towering spires of crystalline azure blended beautifully with the sharp blue of the oceanic skies. Glistening sandy white architecture, marble statues of beast from myth and legend, and painted murals ornamented the island city of legends. Atlantis, the most advanced people of the mortal world, however, they where still mortal. It was a grand sight, indeed, and all to be lost in the sands of time. However, knowing the fate of this local was boring, and the short lived creatures that wandered it, humans, where all to predictable. He knew their priests prophesized the return of their god, and decided to set a course of treachery and deceit for them to follow. He was to lay the foundation for his return, rather their god, and to claim their throne, becoming their god-king. He was to guide them to do his bidding, have his fun, and then lay them at the bottom of the sea to rest.

It almost seemed too easy…

First he needed to plant the seed, and so, shifting from the netherworld of which he hails, he entered into the realm of reality. The face of horror, his body was wrapped in tattered cloth, his grey skin all but covered reserve his mouth, arms and left breast. The exposed portion of his chest had an inset eye-like gem, burning with the flicker of a candle’s flame within it. Dyed in lavender, the symbol of an eye was present along the bandages that concealed his face. He was tall, ripple with muscle, bearing no expression as he stepped from the bend in space, entering the mortal world.

Silence befell him, not even the step of his foot generated a sound. The wind that toyed and played with the dangling coils of cloth hanging from his form where inaudible. He looked around, seeing that he had spawned in a back alley. He wasn’t to be seen, and he loathed taking on the guise of the mortals, only appearing to them as their own if he felt it was the only means necessary to protect his plan.

He darted into the shadows, a plume of black smoky vapors filtering from them as he vanished, reappearing in the grand palace’s archives, almost instantaneously. He scanned the room, his senses that of an abyssal nature as he read through the books with nothing more than his mind. The pages of the codices glazed over as if burning, yet they kept their form as the words scribed onto their parchment transmutated to his will. He rewrote the history of their gods, describing to them that a man wrapped in cloth, bearing the mark of the dragon’s eye on his left breast would be their savior, their king. He wrote that fifty three years from now he would appear to them, and take their hand, guiding them to the future.

It was almost too simple… his power was vaster than any scholar could comprehend, but there was a drawback in his plan. He was rendered trapped in the plane for another twenty four hours, and had to remain hidden while biding that time so he could return. Flickering into the shadows once again, he emerged in the same alley as before, though this time he was not alone. Shocked that he didn’t sense the presence, he turned to face a young girl, as expressionless as ever.

A young girl, no more that 10 had wandered into the ally chasing a white cat, she wasn't that tall but everyone could still see that she was going to be rather beautiful , she had long white hair that went to the back of her knees and tanned skin, she was lanky looking but still healthy, you could tell she was about to hit puberty. She stood there in a tube top that hugged her flat chest and a skirt that was cut on ether side but still modest for a little girl all in green gold and white, she was from the temple and bore a small crown over her forehead with a small green gem in the middle, maybe a young princess? She held the white cat in her hand and stared at the man with light light green eyes that showed radiantly from her dark skin. She didn't say anything just stared with those beautiful hues before putting the cat down and walking up to him slowly and stood in-front of him reaching out to take hold of one of his wrappings "who are you?" she asked lightly and turned her eyes up at him blinking lightly as if he should answer her..." I'm Charis " she said wondering if that would make it easier for him to talk if she introduced herself first.

The demon turned its head to the child, though he wavered not in emotion, nor did he speak. Instead his silent form loomed over her, the painted eye of the wraps across his face staring down. This child…. He saw her before in his visions of the future, he knew she was important, he knew he could use her, but what was she doing so far away from the temples? He hadn’t foreseen these, and wasn’t able to detect her; for now he shrugged it from his mind, kneeling down to her.

“Issydrix Child…” he spoke, he voice deep and powerful. “Remember that name… know that when you have grown and become a great leader, that I will come back, and save your people from devastation.” He spoke, lying to her. If this child was as special as he assumed, then this would fall greatly into his plans. “Now run along, your cat needs food.” He said, standing up before gently removing his wrap from her grasp, vanishing into the shadows.

Not moments after the demon fled the girl, one of the priestesses of the high temple came rushing around the corner, winded as she fell to her knees. “There you are!” She exclaimed, gathering herself and walking up to the child. “You know better than to run off like that! You could have gotten hurt!” The woman scolded, grabbing her wrist firmly as she started to drag the girl back to the temple.

The girl was silent as she watched the man kneel down to her and speak his name and for some reason it just echoed in her mind like a song you could never get out of your head, she just looked at him and smiled brightly , he didn't seem so scary to her but he had an aura about him that screamed danger, but there she remained watching him disapper and continued to look at where he had vanished while her cat rubbed against her legs, she didn't seem to hear the older woman come up to her and take hold of her wrist and gathering up her cat as well, it wasn't until the woman dragged her away that her attention came back to reality, she was an odd girl and from that moment on she was mostly a silent observer.

50 years has passed and she grew more beautiful , her long white hair still the same lenth along her long and beautiful frame, she had grown hips that curved up her hour glass like figure, she had grown breasts that weren't to big but just right on her, she was tall around 5`9 in height and always she remained in the temple only emerging to train and fulfill her duties, following in her dead mothers footsteps, she still wore temple colors but the skirt had been updated, it was now floaty almost like a gypsy with sheery fabric connecting to her middle fingers and moved while she walked, the little golden and green circlet remained on her forehead and golden bangles clinged on her left wrist and her right ankle.

Walking the garden outside she looked towards the building where she met the man in wraps " IssyDrix" she said to herself softly and finally moved back to the temple.

As the girl enjoyed the garden, reminiscing over the childhood memory, the skies above started to blacken. The once sunny sky began to fill with turmoil as clouds beckoned forth from seemingly nothing. A loud crash of thunder bellowed overhead, as a stream of lightening struck down a tree not a mile from her location. Drop by drop, rain began to fall on the azure city, as the storms power began to rage.

Beyond the walls of the city, the ocean began to rock. At first the water grew merely choppy, but moment later the waves began to roar, climbing taller than their buildings as they thrashed the coast, burgeoning closer to the shores. Panic followed in their wake… the citizens began to rush towards the center of the island continent, the storm now surrounding their land, far worse than any they had seen in years.

The horror didn’t end there, the once white bolts of lightening stained red, as well as the drops that fell from the sky. Soon the streets where filling with blood rather than water, and the ocean began to release terrible beasts from deep under it’s surface that crawled onto the land, wracking destruction wherever they roamed.

She gasped when everything started to happen all at once, she ran for the temple once the blood started to rain down, she couldn't believe her eyes at the sight of it all, she motioned for the people to flee into the temple where she stood by with the other priests, she moved forward and looked to the sky and the ground as it was cover in blood and soon the streets were flooded with monsters, she looked around before seeing a child scared and alone by a torch pole, she ran out in the blood rain and snatched up the child before one of the beasts got to them, she held the child in her arms and backed up away from all of them and tried to head back towards the temple but one grabbed her skirt and made her fall to the ground dropping the child , she yelled at the girl to run for the temple while she turned and hit a few but they were starting to over power her, she backed up now soaked to the bone in blood and the smell, the smell of it all was horrid and awful she finally made it to the marble steps and tried to climb in but the demons just advanced on the temple ready to attack.

Out of seemingly nowhere, as random as the horrific storm, a bold of black energy descended from the sky, impaling one of the horrid monsters of the sea, sending it backwards as it dissipated into a familiar back smoke. Following the anonymous blast landed a tall figure, its muscles wrapped in cloth that was lined with jagged, unfamiliar runes. Though the woman recognized them, she recognized the shape, his presence forcing the memory of the figure kneeling to her has a child and his voice cried out within her mind. Issydrix

The figure stood tall, the blood hitting his skin and reverting to water as it soaked his cloth wrapped form. He didn’t turn to face her though, instead he lunged forward, grabbing another of the monstrous fish, hurling it into the ground as it exploded into murky vapors. Turning another blast emanated from the gem on his chest, severing several more of the creatures, reaping them of life.

Where their bodies fell the blood turned to water, mixing in with the blood, washing it away. After staving off enough of the beasts they began to withdraw, he turned towards the sky, reaching upward with has fingers extended. In his palm materialized his might, he slowly rolled his digits into a tight fist and the storm seemed to shatter. The sun penetrated the dark skies that had taken over not moments before, and a pure rain washed down as the clouds vanished.

He turned, watching the beasts withdrawal into the calming sea, and it appeared as he was the savior of Atlantis, capable of destroying storms, and fighting armies of foe that only the most harsh of nightmare could conjure.

She laid there looking up at the man that she saw for only a moment 50 years ago, she watched as he fended off most of the demons and cleaned the streets as well as the sky's, she heard people talking and heard the priests say the words savior, so it was him, she believed it and so did everyone else. Staring st him like she did all those years ago she let the rain water wash away the blood that covered her skin and clothes leaving her now wet but blood free.

Issydrix stood silently as the purifying rain washed away the bloodstained city of Atlantis. He turned to the crowd at the temple, knowing their losses where minimal, which would only aid his dark secret desired. He could here the whispered words of savior amongst the people, and taste their feelings of joy.

He slowly walked up to the marble steps of the building, looking up to the small gathering, the fear in their eyes fading. He stood silently for a while, several of the Atlantians murmuring amongst themselves. “Atlantis.” He spoke, the same voice that was to eternally haunt the girl. “I am Issydrix, I have come as your guardian.” And with that he fell silent once more, waiting for their reactions.

Looked at him before slowly getting up and standing finding that she was dry, she was just soaked a moment ago but she didn't question it. Watching the priests talk briefly before the head priest moved forward and bowed slowly to him and offered a smile " we all are grateful to you and welcome you to the city of Atlantis. There is nothing we can do to truly show our gratitude for what you have done for us" the priests nodded and the people all bowed to him to show how grateful they all were, even she bowed on the marble steps .

The creature’s lip quivered, nearly breaking into a smile, he was pleased at his work, everything fell right into place, he read the mortals all to well, and now it was his time to reign over them. He put his foot onto the first step, and then climbed then one by one, stopping when he met the girl, his head turning to face her as words filtered into her mind’s eye. You’ve become quite beautiful.

His attention turned back to the high priest, though he didn’t speak right away, his words where to be gifts for these people, as he looked down at them, but mere pawns in the game that he had started. “As your ancient tombs have read to you, I have returned to claim my throne, and guide your people into a prosperous golden age.” He said, his voice calm, his face void of anything but the straight line expression his mouth portrayed. He rose his hands, presenting himself as something divine to the gullible people: “I’ve been in a slumber for eons, since the creation of this land… and now that the evil threat quelled, you will be safe under my watchful eye.

She heard the words echo in her mind and it made her blush lightly, she watched him move forward to present himself to the thankful people and soon after he spoke they all said their thank you's and rose up to meet their new guardian before the high priest came over to him still in a half bow " what is your first order your grace" he asked Issydrix calmly while Charis stayed where she was almost scared to move from her spot.

He pondered it for the moment; he had gained complete control over these people in less than an hour, and was already being granted wishes in his favor. “A king cannot properly rule without a throne to sit upon, nor a queen by his side.” He said calmly, folding his arms as they gathered, but he was sparse with his words, only speaking when he felt the need. “In time, this temple will become my palace, and from here, in these holy walls will I rule, and from this building, Atlantis will prosper.”

The priest bowed to him " we shall give you a throne and a woman of your choosing to be by your side, we have many beautiful and talented women here, I will arrange for all of them to be dressed in their best for you to make your selection" the priest said before snapping his fingers and the temples guards started to gather the people up singling out the more beautiful women and sending them off to be dressed and preped while some of the workers started to move to gather the marble that they would craft the throne out of, Charis slipped out of sight to help the other women dress and prep them for the new kings selection, she wasn't int he selection for she was just a temple servant learning to become a high priestess many of the other women were more worthy than she was to even be considered being selected, after a while the women paraded out and formed a semi circle around the high priest and issydrix, and all stood holding their heads high and proud , Charis not among them.

Issydrix was mildly impressed by the swiftness in witch they obeyed him. He stepped passed the crowed, walking into the main hall of the temple as the people, seemingly forgetting their horrible situation moments ago, so happily prepared him women and throne. The demons stopped in the open hall, the south entrance lined with grand pillars, and the ceiling a dome, dotted with some of their great artwork. He began to stew over his future plans a bit more, still remaining in near total silence as the humans toiled about him.

He waited for the while, soon the High Priest returning with an array of equally beautiful women, all ready to take his hand. He moved past them one by one, his arms folded across his chest as he inspected them. Yet none where the one he wanted, he felt a bit upset that the one girl he had brooded over for so long was not here, not in this line.

He waved his hand to signal that none of them where too his liking, but spoke no word of the choice in companion, instead he would play his game with the mortals, he would make things the way they where used to. Tradition, trials, the whole charade had to come off naturally, not contrived. And so the priest bowed once more, and whisked the women away, some looking very distraught by their new King’s choice.

Issydrix turned again to the fresco’s painted into the dome, studying them with great interest. He enjoyed the scenes from other cultures, a depiction of Zeus, another of Odin, and the other great “Gods” of the lands. He knew well some of these deities, as he was not the first to take his dark foothold over a culture.

She roamed along in the halls for she was asked to prepare a room for the new king and was asked to use the biggest room that was furnished accordingly, she bustled about silently and pulled out clean sheets laying it over the large circular bed that sat up on a sort of pedestal with steps all around it letting the mesh curtain hang to the back, she opened windows to let a breeze flow it and placed fresh linens in the bathing room, she used a rag to dust everything making just about everything shine brightly.

She heard talking down the hall and poked her head out and listened to the high priest " none of these women are to his liking there has to be someone in the city that he likes...fetch more of the women in the city, there has to be one that he likes" watching the priest walk down the hall towards her she ducked back in and went to cleaning as if she hadn't listened in, she heard someone clear their throat and looked up to the high priest that stood int he door " wonderful Charis, Once we get a few more finery's in this will suit a king for now" she smiled and put her hands behind her back " i do hope so, has he found his queen yet" she asked as if she didn't know. " No not yet but we are finding every woman how has slipped through the cracks that would be close to a queen." he nodded and walked past her and out the door " continue cleaning then go and over see the kitchen that is preparing the kings meal" She nodded and watched him walk out before going back to cleaning up his room then making her way towards the kitchen but she had to pass through the main hall in order to get there, and who did she come across looking at the ceiling....Issydrix....She tried to stay out of his way and not disturb him

Issydrix, contemplating the paintings above, didn’t seem to notice the girl, only realizing her presence as he turned around, ready to explore the rest of his new palace. “Charis.” He called out to her, however before she was given a chance to respond he questioned her: “Why, of all the fine women of Atlantis, have you not come forth to me?” He asked, though it was difficult to gauge expression from the demon, his face shrouded behind the inked cloth.

He spoke no further, as he continued to look in her direction, curious to how she would react. He wanted her as his queen, but he didn’t want to make it obvious, he would wait until she was picked and brought forth. Not only would it take away his obvious feelings towards her, but it would also generate story and gossip, something that humans seemed to thrive off of.

Stopped in her tracks and turned around to face him and acctully looked at the painted eyes on those wraps around his head, she stood quiet for a moment before linking her fingers together infront of her " I have been promised to another man, the future king in a country that i forget and it is apparently vital that I go and do this so that Atlantis and his kingdom are joined as allies, since we do not have a princess the prince hand chose me and that is why the Priest never brought me forward because of this very reason" she finished and continued to look at him before offering him a small smile before finally bowing to him letting her long white braid fall over her shoulder and hang down." is there anything else you need from me?"

Issydrix couldn’t believe what he was hearing, inside he was shocked, a flaw was found in his seemingly perfect plan. Everything fell into place except the one woman of all the mortals he desired. However, he expression didn’t waver, and he merely nodded, followed by but these few words: “If it is for the good of Atlantis, then it shall be willed.” He then turned away from the girl, he would be filled in on the foreign affairs of Atlantis later, under his rule they will indeed rise to be a great force, there was no doubt in his mind. For now they had a god king, or so it seemed.

He waved his hand to her to motion that he was done speaking, dismissing her. The night went on, the feast prepared was composed of a dazzling array from ocean creatures, both large and small; witch where served in troves to worship the coming of their prophesized leader. In an act to gain his new people’s trust, he had commanded that the meal be given to the poor and less fortunate, for as a god he need not consume mortal foods, and so the banquet halls where opened to the masses, the Atlantians overcome with a newfound sense of unity.

Over the course of the next few days he learned of the nation’s policies, their foreign relations, their trade, and all the inner workings and political nuances. He began to make changes, pushing towards technology and science, he brought in artists and had commissioned that the grand hall be ornamented with statues and paintings to testament his arrival, and the evils he had perished from the land. Everyone so willingly accepted him, but it was all as he expected. This ever, four days from his arrival, he was to meet with the High Priest.

The priest entered the throne room, the throne that was ordered to be built not yet arrived. Issydrix stood in the center, watching as the artisans and painters worked their trade in the grand hall, turning to face the man clad in indigo robes, his flamboyant hat sitting atop his head, the symbol of his rank and authority.

“My Lord…” The elderly priest spoke, “You called upon me to discuss the exchange of our priestess to the lands of Arabia?” The demon simply nodded his head. “What is it that you wish to know?”

“It’s not what I wish to know, it’s what I wish to do.” Issydrix spoke. “The girl is the one I desire to be my bride.” He said, simply put, but the priest grew frantic, nervously toying with his silk sash. “But M’Lord, that woman was promised to the Sultan as a bride, in exchange for peace between our countries…” His voice trailed as the emotionless figure loomed before him. “I understand this…” he said down to the priest. “But their backwards and godless people have no right to taint our women, especially one so beautiful.”

The priest looked shocked by their rulers words. “If we want the good of Atlantis, then we give them some mere gold, perhaps trade with some of our exotic goods.” He shook his head, waving his hand to the priest. “My decision is final, and if the Sultan has issues, then tell him to bring it up with your god.”

With that the demon left the man, fumbling about in his nerves, knowing fair well that this would not bode well with their current ties to the Arabian peoples. But he trusted their demon prince, for he was their savior, was he not?

The priest would bow to the back of their new ruler and walked down the hall with a bit of a pep in his step, making his way to a room he grabbed a piece of parchment and wrote to the sultan wanting to try and see if he would take anything other than young Charis. The city of Atlantis was an odd one, people grew up but it took a very long time for them to grow old, an enchantment on the city helped them with that, but once any one left the city they would be no different than a mortal, slowly aging with the elements just as the rest of the world did. The city knew all about it but kept the secret from the outside world, many who have learned of the secret have tried to breech their walls and find out what made this so but none have succeeded in finding the source, and always ended their lives in death.

With her duties done for the day she was free to roam around, and roam around she did. Taking the bathing tray from her bedroom and her linen bathing robe, which she changed in easily, she strode to the bathing chamber letting her eyes wander around fondly to see if any were around, she liked to bathe alone and in peace when everyone had retired for the day. Confirming with herself that none were around she slowly pulled off her robe reveling her beautiful naked body, she moved into the water taking the tray with her and setting it up on a rock, all of her long thick white hair was piled on top of her head and pinned with a comb allowing a few strands to fall free around her face and down her now wet and strong back. Allowing herself to float around a bit and completely relaxed in the warm water she took her cloth and soaps and started to wash herself from the days events her mind flickering to Issydrix every now and then but she had to push it out of her mind and thought about her marriage to the sultan. He was handsome and young somewhat naive but she couldn't blame him for that she had a good 40 to 50 years on him but that would change once she left here, she would grow old and die just like every one else. Closing her eyes she leaned against the rock only her neck and the tops of her shoulders being visible int he dimly lit chamber.

As the sun faded from the sky, marking the day’s close Issydrix dismissed himself from his pretense role for the day. He sent off his so called advisors for the night as his mind wandered on what move he would make next. He had become firmly seated in the city, the people trusted in implicitly, and he had put in motion the steps to take his bride. He wanted to reach out to her before the priest did though; knowing it was a daring step, since he didn’t want it to seem to obvious that he was after her from the start.

He stepped out of the main hall into a shaded hallway, he still couldn’t sense the woman’s presence naturally, though he knew where he resided by now and he crept into the shadows unseen, materializing in her room almost instantly with a whirl of mist. He looked around, the room empty, but he noticed light from her bathing chambers, and the sound of water moving. He calmly made his way to the doorway, gently pushing it open, however he spoke before entering. “Are you decent, Charis?”

Was almost asleep in the water that she waded in but heard a soft voice, it was barely audible but she heard it feeling a strong presence near her. She whipped her head up and looked around before seeing the door slowly opened, she hurried to the side and grabbed her robe while climbing out and pulled it around her naked frame and tied it at the side while sitting on a rock" yes..I am now" she said and grabbed some scented oil and started to spread it over her arms lightly while waiting silently.

Issydirx stepped into the room. “Forgive my intrusion…” He spoke, turning to her. “Have you heard the news?” he asked, folding his arms, the wraps that encompassed his masculine form still, hanging from him, littered with the unreadable markings. Though his face was nearly entirely covered he seemed to be able to see quite easily. It allowed him to see in a way incomprehensible to a mortal, seeing more than just the material world around him. But for some reason he could only see her as herself, her physical existence. He desired to know what force she possessed that didn’t allow him to sense her in the way he did others, perhaps it was what drew him to her in the beginning.

“I’ve arrange alternative agreements with the Sultan of Arabia you where to marry.”

Looked up when she saw him and stayed where she was while he stood in her doorway, what was he doing here telling her this himself? " Forgive me...what agreement might that be your grace" she asked and rubbed the sweet smelling oil on her arms and started on her legs easily while they continued to speak with one another.

“I’ve arranged that we discuss other means of trade to keep our nations at peace, and to keep the foreign interests positive. Because I have chosen you as my bride.” He responded in a calm voice, his expressionless face never wavering, he stepped into the bathroom, turning his gaze to her as she smoothed her skin with oils. It seemed a bit odd, even to him, that he found a mortal girl so fetching, but he didn’t care, he did what he had to for her, and hoped that like the others of Atlantis, that she would fall as easily. However, such emotions, love, caring and kindness, where ones he didn’t understand in full. He could emulate them, but he had yet to truly experience them.

“I thought It would be more fitting if I told you myself, rather than the Priest.”
