Luck of the cards //Kratos x Candira//

Kira hugged him close to her, snuggling into him as he carried her on. "You have no idea how awesome you are at this very moment." She chuckled and let him keep on carrying her. About halfway down the block, she stopped him and said, "This is the place. You can put me down here or inside, but at some point, I will need to come off your back," she said with a chuckle. "Thanks for the ride."

Although he had really only just met Kira it felt nice to have her on his back snuggling up against him, it was just simply warm and also she really was not that heavy and so it was quite an easy walk for him. That and well he had been able to sit down most of the day unlike her. He laughed lightly to her comment but in truth he really did not. He was just doing what he thought was a kind thing to do, offering her a break since she obviously evidently needed one. Stopping when she made him, of which again he could not help but lightly laugh at her before then crouching a little "I think it would be a little odd if I gave you a lift into the diner as well... People might get ideas," he smiled at her since he did not actually mind such a thing. "Any time you want one just ask" he said this one as a joke although if she seriously asked him here and there he would.. just since it seemed a little fun and got them closer then Seth thought they probably should be. "So this is the place hmm?" he looked around smelling the air of which just from that he could smell something that probably would taste great. "Well then.. shall we pick a table?"

When he let her down she grinned up at him. So maybe playing the sweet girl card had its perks. And it wasn't like she was lying about who she was. She was in need of extra money, she was legitimately working at the casino, and she was legitimately a sweet girl. But it was only one side of her. And sooner or later he would find that out.

His offer to give her a ride when she needed it made her laugh, and she nodded her thanks. "I'll keep that in mind. This is the place. Has the best chicken parmigiana--my favorite." She took his hand again and led him inside which was a very home, comfortable, charming place with booths and tables. The hostess was an older woman who knew Kira well.

"Ahhh, welcome back. A booth for you and your friend?" she asked with something of an accent.

"Yes, please," Kira said with a smile. They were taking to a nice, big booth and she stretched out on one side, propping up her feet.

It seemed that part of Kira seemed like this was actually who she was although he still knew of a hidden incentive that she had at least back in the actual casino. Still right now since he had also stated earlier to forget about the casino, he decided to leave it at that and currently just enjoy what was going on right at this moment. It was nice and not quite something that Seth did a lot since he usually stayed away from people not trusting them. At least at this time of year anyhow where the card tournament took priority over everything else, people that did know him knew that it was pointless to even try to contact him until after that which it was the same thing every year. For the past two years that was anyhow.

It seemed that Kira had been to this place before judging by the welcome and hearing what her favorite meal was from here he was definitely going to order that. At first he was actually wondering what he would get from here but now that was sorted. He walked with Kira to the booth that they were taken to before then sitting to the left of her seeing as she had used the right to relax on and be completely off her feet "I take it you come here often to relax after work then" he at least already felt rather comfortable of which since he already now knew what he was going to order, he did not bother looking at the menu but instead was just relaxing.

"This place is so underrated. But it's really nice, and I like the people who work here. I had a job here once and even though I didn't make much it was the best I've ever been treated on the job. I was like one of their family," she said with a smile. Of course, they knew that she'd had to steal before, and they didn't judge her for it. After all, she'd done no wrong to them. And she'd never stolen from someone who wasn't doing very well.

It was something that they never talked about, but Kira was aware that they knew. She relaxed in the booth. "So yeah, I come here all the time. I love it," she said. "So, tell me more about yourself."

He smiled at her words slightly surprised to hear that Kira had once worked here before also, but that explained why they seemed extra friendly towards her and had given her one of the much larger booths available. Seth stayed silent just letting her talk for a little also partially relaxing since it was quite a comfy atmosphere before hearing her question. "It really depends what you would like to know Kira.. I have a lot to tell.. but I would not like to bore you, so what would you like to know about me?" he looked at her now curious to hear her answer, preparing to tell her what ever she asked he supposed. After all he was not usually used to telling others about himself but would make an exception if someone wanted to know.

She chuckled and leaned back into the booth, enjoying it. "Mmm, okay. How about this? What do you do for a living?" she asked, watching him. "I'm curious to know. You don't seem like a mellow behind the desk kind of guy, but I could be wrong." She smiled and gave her order as the woman who owned the place came over.

"My favorite please. With an extra slice of garlic bread. You make it so well."

Hearing her ask such a thing he could not help but lightly laugh as he heard what she stated. "Believe it or not that is almost entirely what I am,.. I might not seem it but that is because at work I act like a different person.. get the job done although I hardly am mellow, neither is the office I work for, since talking and discussions are always going on to help pass the time as we troubleshoot and do what ever tasks are required for the day.. what about you though, obviously you do not work at the casino often since you mentioned back at it you were just working their for the tournament.."

Seeing as it was time to order he smiled before asking for the same that she had asked for seeing as he trusted Kira enough that the food would be alright.

Kira smiled as she listened to him, wondering what he was like inside the office, and what he was like him. I was wondering what he was like inside the office...among other things. And she was curious to know what he was like on a date; after all, this one was just beginning. His order didn't really surprise her, but it was kind of a sweet touch.

"Me? I'm a jack of most trades," she said with a laugh. "I'm always between jobs it seems. I'm mostly picking up work through a temp agency. Never can catch a break. Something always happens that forces me to quit. I've done a lot of things in my time. Starting to get desperate though. I hate living the way I do."

Seth had become quite relaxed the longer that they were spending here, a smile evident on his face as he heard her answer his question. "Well.. that would be good and bad, it is nice to have a consistent job sometimes.. but I could see pluses in getting to do various other jobs and gaining various bits of experience... you never know one day that might help you get a great job that without all that mixed experience would be something you would not normally get." he flashed a smile to her as he finished that sentence.

Lightly he sighed his eyes looking at her for a moment before he decided to speak ".. Do you mind asking you a question? It has nothing to do with work or anything like that.. it is just something I want to ask" he stopped talking as he awaited her response before actually asking "Would you be up for doing what we are doing right now on other occasions as well other then this one? I just think you would be someone I would not mind going out on more dates with.." he had considered not using the word 'dates' but decided to at the last moment before going silent again.

Kira listened to what he had to say about her job experiences and smiled right back, chuckling. "You'd think so," she said, recalling the many times she'd been turned down from a stable position because her term of employment with other employers had been so brief--a few weeks here, a few months there...it simply wasn't enough. No wonder her main source of income was what she managed to steal and hawk. On this, however, she remained silent.

"Hm? A question? Well, I can't really stop you, Seth," she said with a chuckle. "Go ahead." And then she listened to his proposal. He wanted to date her again. What a sweet guy the card shark could be. It almost made her feel a little guilty for maybe stealing his money later on...then again, maybe she wouldn't have to if he won.

"Well...alright. Sure, I'd like to go out with you again sometime. You have my number."

Hearing her answer to getting more experience it came clear to him why jumping from job to job would look bad, since most places these days were after consistency more so then what they had done, and how well it was done. After all most did not hire on a short term basis, although it seemed that had been really only what Kira had been exposed to which was rather unlucky yet still he would have preferred the different experiences. Since a stable job was somewhat boring after a while.

Hearing her answer he smiled at Kira obviously glad that she had said such a thing, of which he would have called her or messaged her or something like that at a different time to catch up again.. but for some reason he had felt like actually asking. "That is true, it is saved in my phone.. so I am sure I will use it again, and you have mine.. if at any time you want to contact and catch up.." the smile remained before his eyes looked at her for a moment. Silence occurred just for a moment before he then looked away now waiting for the food to come.

She chuckled and smiled at him. "Sure, I'll do that." She smiled and took out her phone letting him look at her more closely. She looked up and blushed a little once she caught him and he turned away to look at the restaurant. "Why don't you give me your number? I'll give you a call sometime." It wasn't a common thing for her to ask, but she felt like it was okay to do with Seth. If nothing else, she didn't think she had anything to worry about. He liked her.

Although he had turned away from her after she had caught him looking, his peripheral vision had seen the small blush that it had caused. After all he could almost see directly to the side without turning or being obvious. A small skill he had picked up at a young age after noticing that he could see his hand as he scratched the side of his head. Another time was when a ball that had been sent flying almost hit him, but he had noticed it from an angle that people though he was going to be hit since most would have not seen but he ducked just in time and it missed before people asked if he was okay. Hearing her question he smiled at her, since he was hoping she would say such a thing seeing as it showed it was not just him showing interest but Kira had a little back at least. "Okay then, here it is Kira" he then said what it was to her so that she could put it in her phone, his nose picking up the smell of their food that seemed it would be ready soon

Kira punched the number into her phone, saved it and then put it away. "There. Now you're in." She smiled and chatted with him a little more to kill some time, and then the food they'd ordered arrived. A big plate for each of them arrived--on one side of the plate was the main dish--the chicken parmesean, on the other were two thick slices of garlic bread and a small dish of steamed vegetables.

"Thank you," She said, smiling as the woman's son set the plates before them and offered to get them more water.

Seth watched as she placed the number he had given to her into her phone before hearing her speak. They then both chatted a little more as they waited although nothing of importance really came in to conversation as the food then arrived of which it looked excessively tasty. Then again it had been ages since Seth had eaten out like this, and so the whole experience was just adding to it. Thanks to Kira after all for dragging him slightly out of his normal comfort zone especially around event time when he went completely unsociable usually.

"This looks better then I expected.." he stated it out loud at the same time as thinking it before realizing he had actually spoken those words before smiling and then taking up that offer on more water before turning towards Kira "So you have this how often..? I feel almost jealous just looking at the quality of the food.. the aroma.. the nice feeling of such a venue." he went silent before preparing to eat the meal.

The boy nodded and Kira added her request for a pitcher as he went off to the kitchen. "I try to come here every week. If I don't eat anything, I at least talk to the owners. Sometimes they float me a freebie if I'm low on cash. They're such kind people." She smiled at him and then put her aching feet on the ground, picking up her fork to dig into the delicious meal in front of her. It did not disappoint.

"Best kept secret in the city," she said with a wink. "You should really get out more. Maybe with a pretty lady even," she teased.

Seth lightly smiled and waited for her to take the first attack at the food. After all he never started eating before others, for some reason which he was unsure why but he felt it was rude otherwise. Especially when he was the guest he awaited the host as such or in this case Kira to start, before also eating some of his own. Which as expected was great. The scent not at all lying about it's taste that was expected. He took a small bite from the garlic bread slice now before hearing her talk of which he could not help but lightly chuckle.

"Usually when it comes to being around tournament time, I tend not to think of such a focus.. although your an exception.. of which I would not mind getting out more with" he lightly smiled before starting to eat a little more of his own food. Not at all rushing it since it was to nice and quite hot to be able to do such a thing. He would definitely have to do this more often, of which when he would the first person he would think of inviting would most likely be Kira. Someone that he wanted to get to know a little better.

Kira smiled at his words and continued to eat with him as he enjoyed the food. She took a piece of her garlic bread as well, enjoying the texture and taste that was just right. She grinned at him and shook her head. "So you become a hermit during the tournament? That doesn't seem like much fun to me."

After taking in a little more food he paused so that he could speak "I suppose you could say that I become a hermit yes, it is just how i focus more on the game otherwise I get distracted and tend to make foolish mistakes.. although it is pretty boring when I am not actually playing because of such a thing" he then started to eat a little more and took a drink of water before smiling "I suppose for you though I can make an exception Kira, since you did not seem to effect my playing.."

Kira chuckled and shook her head. "Well, I'm glad you've decided to trust me." She took another bite of garlic bread and savored the tastes of her favorite foods. "You know, I think you're the first person I've ever brought here. I hope you're enjoying it," she said with a laugh. "I bet they'll want me to introduce you. They're old fashioned like that."

Seth smiled hearing her comment the last thing she said made him laugh a little before he replied to it "Well I have no problem with you introducing me.. although you obviously don't have to" he was almost through his plate of food now, his garlic bread about half finished as he then ate a few veggies that were in the side bowl before eating more of his original plate before finishing that. "after all sometimes there is nothing wrong with being old fashion.. its much better then how some of the modern people act" he laughed lightly before then relaxing a little his eyes looking forward before slowly drifting to look at her for a little until he was caught that was.

She smiled and continued to nibble her way through the meal until it was all gone and she was full. "Mmm, I love coming here. I feel so good when I leave." Her eyes caught him watching her as he finished speaking about the way people act now versus the good old days. "Well I suppose that's true, isn't it?" She saw him look away when she caught him and shook her head. "You can look at me you know. I promise not to turn you to stone," she teased.

Just then an older gentleman and his wife came out of the kitchen, happily calling Kira's name as though she were a daughter coming home for a visit. For them, she got onto her aching feet and hugged both of them. They spoke to her in Italian, which she answered them in, and then gestured to Seth.

"Seth, these are the owners, Franchesca and Vigo Moretti," she said, gesturing to them. "This is Seth," she said, gesturing back at him. The two looked pleased.

They spoke to him with heavy accents. "Welcome! We hope you'll become a regular customer like our Kira here. She a good girl." Immediately they began to talk her up and she just giggled, catching up with their son, who was a senior in high school now.

Finally, they asked him, "And how do you know our Kira?" they asked, as though they were her parents.

The rest of the meal did not last much longer, although it left a very satisfied feeling once it was finished and he was glad that they had actually came to this place. It seemed she had caught him looking at her again and so he glanced back to the side before smiling at her comment and turning to face her this time. "Turn me stone..? I suppose you did actually catch me looking then.. " now that he had eaten he was much more relaxed and slightly surprised as he heard Kira's name being called.

Attempting to listen to what was being said he gave up pretty quickly, not understanding much Italian at all, of which it came not to much surprise that Kira had answered them likewise. After all these people seemed to treat her like a daughter or so it would seem and so Seth had expected for her to be able to respond in the language preferred. That or they just wanted him not to understand.

A soft smile crossed his face as he was introduced before he plainly answered "Pleased to meet you.." he was partially unsure as to what really to say, and their heavy accents made listening to them talk more interesting then the usual conversation.

"With such great food, I am certain I will have to visit quite often I think" this part was true as after eating such a great meal and with such a nice atmosphere for a first impression this place had done really well on him.

The next question surprised him though but he decided to answer without hesitation "She is working at the casino that I was playing in for that new competition that has arrived that happens every year, and well she introduced herself and then before we knew it we ended up coming here.."

His answers and his nice, easy manner seemed to impress the two owners. "You come in often, yes? If you come in enough, we give you discount like Aria have," Vigo said cheerfully.

Franchesca nodded, "You come with Aria! We love to see her with friends. You welcome any time."

Aria chuckled at their acceptance and gave their son a hug before letting him go back to work. After a few more gushing invitations and compliments, the two owners went back to work as well.

"Well I'm glad you like it here. I hope you'll come back again, even if you don't see me after the tournament." She smiled and left the money for her share of the meal. "Ready to go?" She asked.
