It was a sunny day down in California... if only the sun was showing the emotions of everyone within the city. Because one certain house was about to have every single emotion flipped upside down. It all started two months ago, when Teenager A was walking home from school. Teenager A was Michael, a smart boy that was used to anything that was in high school. Pranks, acing the test when you needed to, and dicking around during lunch was what Michael was all about. However when it came to girls, he never tried to go for one. Now it wasn't that Michael was gay or anything, he just preferred his best friend over any other girl. He ran his hand through his hair as he came through the front door.

His father, Anthony, had been halfway into his second six pack of beer, when he saw his son come into the house. He smirked. "Oh you little shit, you have decided to finally show yourself?" He asked, a slur on his voice that showed how drunk he was. Michael flinched and dropped his backpack at the door. "Afternoon Dad." He said in a nice tone, but his dad was not in the mood for it. Anthony rushed over to Michael and a fist ended up in Michael's face. Michael fell backwards against the door, and he felt around his nose. Blood was leaking onto his shirt. "Fuck you Dad!" He yelled out but he felt something hard hit him on the head, and he was knocked out cold. Anthony had used the nearby gaming controller to smash on Michael's head. The controller was now broken. Anthony picked up his son and threw him out of the house. He fell down 7 steps, before landing on the ground. The police were called an hour later, and Anthony was taken to jail. Michael was taken to the hospital and the little amount that Anthony had left in his bank account, was taken to pay for insurance costs.

And this is where we find ourselves today, Michael in the hospital, and a certain principal of Teenager B's school calling her in. Her name was being broadcasted over the intercom. "Please come to the principal's office. Please come to the principal's office."

The day had been just like any other for Teenager B, however she had no idea what was in store for her and how things were about to change. Teenager B was Rebekah Libby but she had her closest friends call her either Bekah or Libby. She had gone about her day as she did every single day, running through the same routine with little distractions from her friends at lunch time. The girl was a relatively good student, most of her grades A's and B's with maybe a C or two. Usually she hung out with the same small group of friends. Usually it was her, one of her girlfriends named Abby and two guys, Andy and Michael though her best friend was Michael. They had grown up together and they'd attended school together with the exception of when she had to go to a different school for a year when her father had to take a job in another part of the state but then they'd moved back.

That day she had been sitting in her social studies class when the announcement was made over the intercom and she looked up at the speakers while all the other students "Ohh'd" and said that she was in trouble despite them knowing that it was Andy that was the trouble maker and not her. Rolling her eyes at the others, Libby grinned with a soft laugh before gathering up her things and put them into her messenger bag before standing up, making her way to the front of the class where her teacher was writing out a hall pass for her. She wondered why she was being called to the office but she just shrugged it off for the moment.

Taking the pass from her teacher, Libby smiled and nodded before heading out of the room, her boots clicking softly as she made her way down the school corridor. Libby was an attractive young woman with large green eyes and slightly messy multicolored hair. She had an array of colors streaked through her bangs while the rest of her hair was a mix of dark brown and blonde hair. That day she wore a pair of skinny jeans and an old band t-shirt with a pair of her boots. Upon reaching the office, she knocked as she entered and she smiled at the secretary. "Hi, I was called up." she said to the woman who told her to take a seat. With a nod, she moved over to one of the seats and sat down with a sigh.

The vice principal of the school was an extremely nice fellow, a man that enjoyed to help the students of the school. However there was a downside. Whenever something happened in his school, he always felt more depressed then any other student that would have known the victim. He learned of the incident through the neighbors of Anthony, and he felt like he was the one that beat up Michael, since he wasn't able to help. He walked outside of his office and smiled when he saw Rebekah, but hated that he had to tell her this news. "Rebekah come here." He said, motioning for her to come into his office. Despite his smile, this was serious news. The smile disappeared the moment that he shut the door.

The vice principal sighed as he sat in his office chair. "Rebekah, I have seen you around campus with Michael sometimes, hanging out during lunch and passing periods. This is why I called you into my office. I... have some news about Michael. He is in the hospital, with almost fatal wounds. His father assaulted him. He is at the San Diego Hospital, under intensive care. I know that it is going to be hard for you to understand this, and swallow all of this information, but this is no joke. Michael is in the hospital, and if you need to see him, I can write you a pass for you to leave the school early."

As the vice principal came out, she looked up at him and smiled up at him. Rebekah preferred to see him instead of the actual principal. The principal always seemed so mean and cold while the vice principal was always so nice. Many of the school thought of her as a 'bad' girl because of the way she dressed, but those that knew her could tell them that she was a sweet and kind young woman. Sure she could be loud and rambunctious some times, but she always meant well. Standing up, she followed him into his office and set her things down next to a chair before sitting down.

As the man started talking about Michael, she knew that something was wrong and she swallowed softly, her smile disappearing. The news about Michael was shocking and she felt tears pricking the corners of her eyes as she sat there. She had known that Michael had a hard home life and she was always worried something bad would happen and it seems her worst fears had come to pass. At the mention of seeing Michael, she nodded quickly. "Please. I... I need to see him." she stammered, doing her best to fight back her tears.

There was a small smile that the vice principal made, before he gave the girl a pass to leave the school early. "I understand. Please tell him 'hi' for me." He said, as he stood up and opened the door to his office. He handed the girl a few tissues as he let her outside. The office staff and few teachers that were getting copies, or that were just hanging around, had no clue. All of them saw the crying girl, but did not say anything or try to help her. That was teachers. Unless you were bleeding or dead, they didn't care.

Michael laid down in the hospital bed, his eyes closed as well as his mind. He wasn't moving, and his heart monitor remained the same, barely noticeable. The doctors were looking at Michael every now and then, and felt depressed every time. They were so depressed that this teenager was beat so badly, that he was in a coma. A doctor lingered in the room, thinking about the boy.

Taking the pass, Rebekah nodded before picking up her things while her tears started falling. Walking to the door with him, she gave him a watery smile as she took the tissues from him before turning and heading out of the office. On her way out, she wiped at her eyes and passed other teachers and staff members. She only stopped long enough to show a secretary her pass before leaving quickly. Once outside, she took off running to her car that was parked a little further down the parking lot. Unlocking it quickly, she tossed her things in before getting in. A minute later she was driving out of the parking lot and rushing to the hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, she parked as close to the doors before running inside, demanding to know where he was. After a small arguement with a receptionist, she finally got the number and rushed through the hospital until she reached his room. But after she entered his room, she froze in front of his bed and her eyes widened as she dropped her purse. "Oh Michael." she breathed before moving to his side, not even noticing the doctor lingering in the room. Moving to Michael's side, she took his hand in hers and pressed a kiss against his fingers before pulling a seat up next to the bed.

Inside of the hospital, Anthony was laying down in the hospital bed, not moving as his one love was sitting besides him. The doctor moved out of the side of the room, and placed her hand on Rebekah's shoulder. "Who are you?" She asked, taking a step back and moving over to Anthony's IV so that she could check it. He was doing okay. "I am sorry for what happened to him... do you know any relatives that Anthony has? Because his father is in prison now, and he is never going to get out, or even see his son again." The doctor said. She wanted to smile, and say that everything was okay, but it was hard to smile when you were standing nearby a boy in a coma, and another girl was crying her eyes out. "We think that he is going to be in the coma for a month..."

Bekah jumped when the doctor touched her hand and she looked up before quickly wiping away the tears with the back of her hand before clearing her throat. "B-Bekah. My name is Bekah." she told the woman. "I'm his best friend." The teen watched the doctor check the IV before listening to the woman, shaking her head slowly. "No... No, from what he told me, everyone in his family is gone." she told the woman. "His father was the only one in his family he had left.." Bekah felt so angry yet so sad at the same time because of what had happened. She'd always known something bad would happen but she never thought it would be this bad.

The doctor sighed and pulled out a stack of papers that looked gargantuan. In order for the doctor to be giving Anthony over to this girl, she had to have her parents come down here to sign a few papers, but what consisted in that stack was adoption papers, a few papers to do some tests, and an agreement for Anthony to stay in the hospital until he is out of his coma. However the coma could last any number of days... The doctor explained this to Bekah while she prepared Anthony for a test. Another doctor came in, and smirked at Bekah, but it was wiped off the moment that it showed on his face.

Bekah looked at the papers after the doctor pulled them out and she sighed while looking at them, nodding slightly before looking at Anthony again. Her parents adored him and they would gladly take him into their house. Her family was a little on the well off side so they had a large enough house. When the second doctor came in, she looked at him and arched an eyebrow at him before looking at Anthony again, holding his hand while the doctor prepared to do a test on him, softly raising his hand and kissing the back of it. "I'll call my parents right away." she told the doctor. Standing up, she reached out and stroked Anthony's hair before heading out into the hall, making her way down to the pay phones to make the call.

The doctors all left the papers on a counter near the doorway, just in case the girl were to come back with her parents, the people that were actually going to sign those papers.

4 months later

It was official. Anthony's father was going to remain in jail for nearly the rest of his life, due to the damage that he did to his son. Anthony had still been in a coma, but at 9 am on a Saturday... his eyes opened. His brown orbs slowly opened and he managed to survey the surroundings around him. He instantly panicked. "What the fuck, who are you all!" He yelled out to the one doctor that was in the room. He looked at all the tubes that were hooked into him, and he pulled them out, dashing out of the room. He was stopped by one doctor, who was trying to tell him that he should calm down. But it wasn't long before he fell to his knees, and then the ground. The IV that he yanked out was supplying him with an energy fluid. He still wasn't ready enough to walk. He should have been in a wheelchair. The damage that was done to his head, did this. They laid him back down and called Bekah, telling her to come to the hospital straight away.

Bekah called her parents who also called their lawyer before coming to the hospital. The three adults went over the paperwork before signing it and making sure everything was taken care of. After that, Bekah was constantly in the hospital was Anthony's side when she wasn't at school. When at the hospital, she would sit at his side doing her homework and studying while also talking to him. Even though he was unconscious, it made her feel better to just talk to him.

When Rebekah got the call about Anthony waking up, Bekah had been in school for saturday detention. Once hearing that her friend was up, she hurried to the principal's office and asked to be excused for the last bit of the day so she could go to him. Luckily for her the vice principal was in and he let her go. Rushing out of the school and to the hospital, she could barely contain both her excitement and worry. Once the elevator reached his floor, she rushed down the hall towards his bedroom, her long hair bouncing around her shoulders.

Anthony didn't wake up for a few minutes after he was hooked back into the IV. However when his brown eyes opened, he remembered that he was in a hospital... But not really anything else. He looked around and saw that his name was Anthony, because there were a few balloons from other students that said "Get Well Anthony" And a few hearts or some high school crap on it. That pointed it out. But he didn't have any other clues apart from that. When he saw a very attractive girl show up at his hospital room, he sat up slowly. "Um... Hi?" He asked, feeling a little embarrassed that he was only in a hospital robe, and not in better clothes.

Walking into the hospital, she rushed past the reception desk, waving hello to the woman sitting there. Because she spent so much time there, everyone knew who she was and vice versa, getting to know so many nurses, doctors and other employees. Upon reaching his room she entered and saw he was up and her eyes lit up as she tossed her things down and moved over to the bed. "Anthony!" she said happily. "Oh, you're finally awake." She sat down on the edge of the bed and smiled at him, reaching out and gently grasping one of his hands even though she actually wanted to hug him.
