Winter Snow Academy : A school for girls

academy.jpg

It was a cold winter morning at Winter Snow Academy, and Alex felt herself dreading every moment of it. Standing by the entrance of the auditorium she was quietly directing each student to which group of seats they would be sitting at. “No not there….over there….” She said to one girl wondering why she had to point when saying ‘left’ should have been sufficient enough. Lazy emerald eyes take a moment to glance up at the large clock to the front of the auditorium. “Goddamit…” she curses to herself softly whilst running slender fingers through her golden bangs. About twenty students had been seated one by one….and not even five minutes had passed since the last time she’d glanced up at the clock. “7:23” she murmurs disappointedly to herself.

As anyone could tell from her tired display at the auditorium doors, Alex was certainly not a morning person. Several of the teachers working at the academy wonder why she’s even a teacher. Shoot, even Alex wonders herself from time to time why… But, once she’s had her daily dose of coffee and is placed in front of a group of pretty young women eager to learn all of that morning grumpiness is a thing of the past. “To the right please…” the blonde says, a soft agitated grunt following after. Looking around that seemed to be the last of the students and the auditorium was filled with chattery young women. Glancing one last time back up to the large school clock, Alex takes note of the time. “Yes….7:30….this boring assembly can begin…and hurry up an end…so I can have my coffee….” She says to herself as she slips into the auditorium, finally, to take a seat in the back.

Cameron stood at the head of the auditorium, behind the podium flipping through the speech she'd prepared in neat script on notecards. After studying each card her dark eyes would glance at her watch, then to the back of the auditorium where several of the teachers were filing the students in to sit according to their class schedules. Then she would look back to the next card in the stack to continue rehearsing her speech. Her watch beepd just once, signaling there was a minute remaining, and she looked up just in time to watch the final student finding her seat followed by Alex. With a smile she nodded to the woman before looking out across the Auditorium once more.

"I'd like to start by welcoming you all to the Winter Snows Accademy for Girls... I am Headmistress DeWinter. As one of the success stories of former students that have gone on to find a decent husband, I have been asked to return to help mold the young minds of another generation of girls into proper young ladies... Your parents have sent you all here for just this reason. The teachers here are some of the finest in their fields, and I remember some of them from our days here together as students."

She smiled fondly to several members of the staff, suddenly frowning as the auditorium doors opened to admit a late student. She was one of the older girls, one Cameron recognized from the stack of files marked as 'problematic students' She waited for the girl to find a seat before continuing.

"Punctuality, though not on the cirriculum, is very important here at Winter Snows Accademy... Tardiness will not be dealt with lightly, for any student..." With that, Cam gave a pointed look at the teachers, unsure at the moment of who her first class was with. After the interruption, Cameron continued on with her speech, detailing the various classes the girls would be attending as well as the strict schedule they would have to adhere to. It had been timed perfectly for the assembly to end at ten minutes to eight, just enough time for the girls to make it to breakfast.

Isabella, also known as Bella, sat in her seat, biting back a giggle at the interruption. Her black hair fell over her uniform gently as she rocked a little, waiting for the speech to finish. Her eyes peered around, wondering what the first class was on the schedual, making her way over to the list as soon as she can, peering over it. "Mnnn..first class is..uhh.." she said, having a hard time looking at the list, her position near the top of the list, where she couldn't see.

Anne had been doing the same job other teachers were doing, ushering in students, showing them where to sit. She was smiling, excited for the new year. It was usually something she enjoyed, having a new batch of girls come in, seeing how the rest of the year would be. Teaching was something she loved, and it was even better here at Winter Snow. Some people would think that PE wasn't something worthwhile to teach, but with the philosophy at the academy, it was important. Their girls had to look their best didn't they?

The flow of students coming to the door she was at slowed, so Anne closed them and took a seat near the right of the auditorium. She smiled as she listened to the headmistress's speech, similar and yet it differed from year's past. The woman was someone Anne admired, a good leader for the school, among other things. When she suddenly frowned and looked to the back, she followed her gaze to a student that had arrived late. A giggle escaped her. Should be fun for whatever teacher she had first.

With the schedules, Anne didn't have a class to teach first period, and she was unsure as of right now what to do with the free time. Visit another class? Spend some time with the headmistress? Maybe just wander the halls and try to catch any skippers. That bridge would be crossed when she came to it. She joined the applause when the speech was finished and stood, going to head to the teacher's lounge for breakfast and some coffee.
