I've often wondered that, myself. I mean come on, after so many treks through Hyrule as a kid and as an adult, you gotta wonder how he makes it through the day and the night.
 
I spent days trying to get a piece of heart(in the game). He has plenty of time for a nap.

I just got done with the shadow temple and now I'm in that stupid fortress.

I hated leaving Hyrule and seeing them all over the place.
