Ava Grant was a very powerful and special miko. She had been found by the most powerful miko known. She was very young when she was found by her mentor. At the age of five she was taken away from her family and taken to a shrine to be taught the way of a miko. She had all the powers equal to a fully trained miko without the control. She was too young to control them all, this was why she had been taken away before a dark miko found her. As she was taught the way to use her powers for good they grew on a grand scale. By the time she was at the age of sixteen she had become more powerful than her mentor. Though she still didn't act like a miko for she was a very spirited girl and it was something that she couldn't seemed to keep still. The fact that her beauty was great as well didn't help her.

As she had such lusious black silky hair with deep green eyes that attracted many young men to her. She wasn't one to really push them away when it came to being a romantic. She had started to see one of the young men that lived near the shrine. She had kept it a secret for the most part though it hadn't taken her mentor long to find out about it. Her mentor then thought it best if she started to travel around the lands to maybe cool her heart from seeking things which she couldn't have. Though as Ava traveled he still loved the young man that she had fallen in love with back at the shrine.

Though when it finally came time for her to return the young man was already married and had a young one on the way. He had fallen out of love with Ava and found another. Ever since Ava had turned cold towards love. She only showed it to those she treated and saved never past that point. Now at the age of twenty one she was more beautiful than ever yet her heart was still closed off. As she traveled from town to town to help all those who called on her. Wither it be for her healing methods or to protect a town from a demon she did whatever she was called for. As she finished up at a town who had a very bad case of this new sickness that had been spreading everywhere she was trying to save a young boy who had this new sickness. He was very young and she didn't know what to do. All of the other treatments had failed and so far she could come up with nothing that saved the lives. As she tried
her latest treatment that she had come up with she waited by his side trying to make sure he made it through the night. Though as the sun came up the boy was dead. Ava sighed as she stood and walked out of the small hut. She gave the news to the boys parents as she then walked away she had said that she would stay to give the boy a proper burial the family thanked her as she left leaving the family to morn. As she went to get the things ready for the young boy. She thought more about the sickness. She had noticed that its not something that went from person to person by touch or exchange of fluids or anything. She guessed it was really some type of new posion but she couldn't comfirm it just yet. As it near midday she had everything ready for the young boys death. The family brough the boys body to her as she placed it on a wood fire pit for he had to be set afire and his ashes would be spread at his families land. As she did the usual ritual as she set the boys body on fire she thought of how the boy had suffered. It was a slow sickness or poison she reminded herself. It took a full two months to kill though it was a very painful last week. By the time the boys body was fully turned to ashes. She gathered them up and placed them in a vile for the family to spread.

As she started to leave the town it began to rain. She didn't know why the sudden rain showed up but it didn't make her feel that great. As she looked around in the woods she was far enough to have no choice but try and make it to the next town or make camp though as she was standing there making up her mind she felt something hit her in the arm. She looked and it was a dart. She looked around seeing nothing and knew that something wasn't right but before she knew it she was knocked out in the middle of the forest with
it raining.

Syn was a young demon, his parents offering his soul to a demon before he was born, however the demon was destroyed before his birth, so instead of being bound under a demons wishes he was free, which he had thought a blessing was far from it, due to being a free demon his power had the capability or being limitless, however he was commonly attacked by his much larger, and more powerful breathern. He lived in the shadows, had learned some special techniques that had allowed him to survive the fifty years he had taken a breath as a demon, though he still appeared to be a young male, in his early to mid twenties. He appeared to be mostly human, his teeth and eyes being the only reconizable parts on him as that of a demon. His every step was silent and carefully placed as he walked through the dense forest. He was a rumor, and one that most Miko's disapproved of, as he was quick to help most folk in need, which he though was doing good, but most said anything that weakens the fear of demons would ultimately damage the whole of mankind.

The male was just under six feet tall, a rugged yet handsome face, his eyes were a deep red, and the pupils were not simple circles a strange slit extending slightly behind the round pupils. His teeth seemed mostly normal, however his fangs were sharper than normal. His short self cut black hair was always messed about his head. The front slightly longer so when Miko's were near he could hide his eyes without it looking intentional. His top was clearly self made leather hide with a a long sleeve down his right side and covered his right shoulder, his left shoulder only had a simple clasp at his neck to keep the top where it was leaving his left arm bare. The vest covered his midsection, to his waist. His left hand had strange tribal tattoos going across his fingers, and if one was too watch for long enough would see them moving, the black ink not stationary. his pants a simple grey cloth that hugged his ankles, and cloth shoes to hide his feet, he was very skilled with many simple tasks. Though most noticably was the pair of swords tied to his left side. Each scabbard carefully inked and decorated, showing a strange pattern on each that probably harbored a personal meaning.

The demon was quite careful about who he helped, having had a bad run in after helping a miko fight a demon, she had turned on him, so when he saw her he froze, headed in a similar direction he surpressed his demonic aura as best he could, and kept a safe distance, though when he saw the dart he moved closer, until he noticed her pass out, to which he moved close enough to make sure she was not attacked but he still did not dare reveal himself in the open, for fear of more powerful demons, or other zealous mikos. He never was a fan of those priestess thinking their narrow mindedness would be their undoing. Though he decided to wait for her to awaken not wanting to be attacked, but not one to leave someone defenceless in the woods he was torn as to what he should do.

Ava gave a groan as she struggled trying to wake herself as she felt the rain start to pour about her. She really didn't know what to think at the moment as she started to sense someone watching over her. Her eyes opened as her sense's told her it was a demon. As the strongest of the Miko's she could tell without him even having his full aura out. "Why . . . are you here" she asked as she felt dizzy, and her eyes didn't seem to want to focus for her. She tried to fight off the effects as her hand moved to the dart and pulled it out. She knew it had to be a poison only she wasn't sure.

Syn let out a sigh of relief when she woke up, though her tone with him made his shrug, "Never could walk away from those who are helpless...". His words were soft spoken, though he moved into view hiding his teeth, and eyes. "I hope I do not have to fight you, I do believe whatever is in your system would not be okay to fight on...". His eyes were on the dart, his voice careful, to keep from seeming aggressive. He paused for a moment before speaking careful to her. "May I see that dart, I would like to know something about the affliction.". Though he asked to see it he dared not step closer to her mearly extending his arm and opening his palm of his left hand.

As she heard him talk she struggled with getting up. As she finally got herself sitting up she looked to him as she rested her back against the tree. "I won't fight you. you have no ill intentions here" she said to him as she closed her eyes happy that the tree was giving her some shelter from the rain. Though as he asked for the dart she nodded her head as she understood wanting to understand. "I have a theory that its the same thing that I've been seeing around the land that kills in two months time. So far no cure has been found" she said to him with a sigh and started to feel tired with all that she was doing.

Calmly he took the dart taking a breath before stabbing himself in the wrist with the dart, watching the dark tattoo start to grow up his arm, and up his shoulder merely watching it, as his arm was covered in the tribal tattoos now. When he did this is body's natural aura gave off an abnormal desire, and intent to destroy, though his demeanor did not change his voice calm, "leathality is an eight out of ten, very few if anyone would be immune to this, but its not what I am looking for..." he sighed as his tribal tattoos seemed to receed slowly at first before returning to their more 'normal' state. "human medicine that needs the human body to fight such a thing is a waist of time, only demon magic, can cure it, possibly a miko seal could slow its progress, but to that fate, I would say let them die...". He sighed speaking quietly, "Enjoy your last days, not all are given a chance to know their final hour."

Ava listened to what he said and suddenly found a new strength. "I don't care what you say. I'll figure it out. I won't allow people to die just for another's enjoyment" she said as she pushed herself up by the tree. "I can't just let this happen. Why are they trying to kill human's like this. Who ever is killing doesn't seem to have any real plan. They just keep killing no matter age or sex. There must be a reason and I won't let it keep going on" she said as she just wouldn't let this keep going. Though as she stood there against the tree she felt the pain spreading. She knew the first few days she would feel the pain then the way the sickness would go is a fever would be the only thing she would have for weeks. "I have to keep going if everyone else is giving up." she stated as she started to struggle down the path again.

"Tenasious are you not...". He let out a small laugh, "shame your a human, I could cure a demon... I do not think a human would survive a treatment...". He sighed lightly as he started forward down the path, looking back to her with a smile, true ability always seems to go to waist, he doubted she would believe he could cure her, even less did he believe a miko would accept his help. Calmly he looked to her seeing her condition he lept up to a tree branch unsheething one of his words it put away before most would have seen hin draw putting the branch infront of her, and looking to her, "I do not wish to worry about your safty, so if it is not too bothersome, could I accompany you to the village down this road. "I know you don't seem like one ready to stop, but traveling in this condition could kill you.

As she kept moving she heard what he said. "Yes well human is what I am" she said as she shook her head. "I'll be fine its the others that need help" she said to him as she ignored the fact she was in pain. Even with the fever pushing against her powers that was fighting against the poison. She really didn't know how she was going to do this but as she pushed her power to protect herself to make it slow down she knew it was only a band-aid. "I have to save the people. Its my job if I don't . . . then what has my life been" she asked herself as she looked do the forest floor. "Doesn't matter I'll get there soon enough" she said as she tried to move around him only to fall to the ground with the fever pushing harder.

"Fool!" his voice hissed at her, the angry tone showed something she said annoyed him. "If you die, how can you help others? One life means little if that life does not find it's own worth first..." His eyes shot into her, glaring at her, "Humans always think like that, or the complete opposite, first take care of yourself, then help others, for if you die, how many can you save then?". Though he looked annoyed at first he calmed down looking to his left hand then too her. "If your willing to let me carry you, I can get you too town and into a warm bed before nightfall, I do not think you would last well in this forest at night, and i can not be here at night...". He spoke referring to this being a fellow demons domain, and he did not want to instigate a losing fight.

As she heard what he said she gave a soft laugh. "You really want to help me?" she asked him as she really didn't think he would ever want to help her. "Your a demon and I'm a miko why would you trust me not to attack you?" she asked him wanting to understand a little more. "Nevermind . . . thanks . . . I would like the help" she said to him as her eyes closed as she tried to keep herself awake as she really was struggling with herself. "I really am a fool" she said as she finally passed out once more as her power had already been low with trying to save the boy just a day before.

He moved her up putting her arms around his neck, "please don't take this the wrong way...". He put his right hand against her ass wishing she was awake, so it did not look like he was trying to take advantage of her, mostly if they came across other miko's knowing this was almost a deathwish if they caught him holding her in such a way, though he took off his feet barely touching the branches as he traversed the forest leaving no more than the light scent his body gave off, he not knowing it had a calming effect on men, but on women it made them hot, knowing it would not effect her if he did not stay still.

He saw the village gates jumping in front of the guards seeing them draw their weapons he set her down her back to a tree. letting out a scream of pain, as when he tried to leave he felt a powerful spell overcome his body as a miko bound him with a powerful spell, so he could not leave the area, clearly till they could destroy him. His left arm's tattoo growing some at the mere sight of the miko, the spell making it worse, "three... A threat of three relax..." he spoke to himself, not having planned on leaving, as she was the first miko he had ever met, that did not anger him by mearly being near him, and he wanted to know why.

As he moved him she was completely limp in his arms. Her body hot with fever as he moved through the wind making her body shiver as if it was cold. She had started to wake as she heard a scream only as she opened her eyes she noticed the spell being placed on him. Her eyes going wide and suddenly her power came out and broke the spell. She felt the pain full all as she used the last of her power for his freedom. "Run away" she said to him as she still couldn't stop herself from wanting to save another. She knew when she saw him the first time that he wasn't a threat to anyone. Not truly as she could feel the purity of his soul. She was happy to see that as she gave him a smile. "I'm glad . . . I got to see a good demon after all this time" she said her voice weak and cracked as she felt the pain wash over her. "I guess it was my last gift" she said as her eyes closed once more as the pain took her away.

His eyes grew wide toward her froze up, the miko shocked but only for a moment, as he tried to recast, but as the spell started, Syn spoke in a dark speech, saying the demonic word for 'dissipate' the miko's spell unable to take hold on the demon as he lifted her the tattoo on his arm spreading up his arm and a shadowy presence floating above his shoulder. He could not believe she would go through such pain for him, to him she was using her life the time she had left.

He lifted her glaring at the guards, the demonic speech once again leaving his lips, a small phase, meaning 'stand down' the guards bodies moved on their own volition to the side as he walked her into town, sliding into the local doctor home, he set her down on the seat, the tattoo's fading down and going back to his fingers suddenly his breath became staggered his eyes widened as if he had been in an hour long fight on the losing side. Letting himself fall back on the floor not seeming to know what he had done.

As she curled against him her breathing uneasy and felt so tired as she just didn't know what to think as she felt so warm. As she was laid down she whimpered as he fell to the floor. She turned towards him as she slept, her body fighting off the fever. She was so tired yet something was driving her own. "I'm Ava" she said as she started to wake a little. "Whats your name?" she asked him as her eyes struggled to open. She really wanted to understand, how to help those who deserved it. She really didn't know what was pushing her and even as she winced from a wave of pain she didn't care she wanted to know more.

"Steiknaein is what one would call my first name, but I prefer Syn, it is simply the first letters of my name put together.". He looked at her sighing as he looked to her, "I do need to know... Did I hurt anyone?". He spoke as he looked to her, a very human expression on his face, fear, it was as if he had no recelection, of what just transpired. His eys looking to his cursed arm, the reason behind him losing control was the same as when most demons lost control, he could not physically harness the vast power that resided in him.

"you know your lucky, there is a big difference in being powerless to help others, and not knowing how to wield the power to help them...". He refused to move, three miko's entering the room, ready to cast a bind spell, but held back not knowing that he was able to do, however just their presence in the room, set him off, his arm growing tribal tattoos once again, as he stared at them, a seething hate from him, something he did not get around her oddly.

As she heard his name she gave a soft smile happy to know a little more. She hadn't realized she had been holding back until this sickness appeared. She felt that she had no right to try for anything other than to help others. Yet as she met him she realized she might actually have more to offer if she had more to give. "Well I guess I really am lucky" she said to him. Only as the other miko's came in her hand went to his shoulder. "Stop he's fine" she said her voice cracking in pain again as she grunted her eyes closing shut as she tried to keep herself awake. "Please leave him be." she said. "As the High Priestess Ava Grant I declare him pardoned" she stated as the Miko's were shocked as she said her name once more. They backed down and fell kneeling as she groaned in pain again.

"You can not pardon my exsistance...". He spoke as though what said was an insult to him. Though it was clear he would bar no grudge to her for the remark. The reason he was to be taken was because he was born with demon blood, though the contract made him a true demon. "Though sanctuary would be nice... And, for such a gift I will offer my assistance once a week..."

Looking up and down, his voice calm, as he spoke as if from a trance, "$o you trust me Ava?" he paused before he spoke very calmly, "use your energy to use the strongest demon banishing spell you can cast on me...". He knew it would not fully work on him due to the human birth, but it would cause him great pain as all demon effecting spells did. He knew a short term cure for the poison, but it was far from permanent.

As she heard what he said she gave a sigh as she understood if he didn't think it was anything special what she said. Though to those who knew of her name and power would respect her and what she had ordered. To the other miko's she had the power that was suppose to rival the gods themselves. Only as she laid there she felt weak and tired like never before. Hearing him ask if she trusted him she gave a soft smile and nodded. "You have a pure soul even with what you have surrounding it" she said to him as her eyes closed. "I wish I could do more "she said to him as she did as ordered putting the last energy she had into the spell. her body felt extreme pain as she used her powers to try and banish him. Her eyes struggled to stay open though as she finished putting in the last drop of life energy she had she passed out her body going fully limp as she had nothing left.

just as before the tattoo crawled up his arm, he seemed to lose composure this time already breathing hard to stay focused as he spoke the dark language this time the words meaning 'destroy the sickness, her body would pale some, but she would survive, just being groggy for a day or two, though the pain that wracked his body gave an unearthly yell as he crumpled to the ground, clearly whatever the tattoo did to him, using it so rapidly had far more detrimental effects, those around him could only equate it to him giving years of his life. The form had only made him tired using it once, though just like the first time he could only sustain it for about a minute. "I am not strong enough rid you of it, but that should bye you a week or so before the fever returns...". He knew a great deal about it from when he injected himself with it. As well as how effective most his treatments would be.

Ava gave a sigh as she felt the pain drift away only she opened her eyes to hear what he said. "Lets rest" she said as she closed her own eyes to let her body rest. She knew that the miko's wouldn't do anything against her will at the moment. Only she hoped that things would be able to work out so that she could save everyone. She knew that most likely she would die there was no doubt that her death would come sooner or later but she wouldn't allow it to take those who are suppose to live.

He woke up late the next morning, by how he sat up, and moved it looked as though he was still quite exhausted, but still moved slightly looking around, seeing he was placed in a bed, seeing his 'guards' three mikos following the orders of another to make sure he did not try anything. "Am I a prisoner... or is this for my own protection..." He joked as he looked around his breathing struggled as he sighed, "You know a lot about my kind, do you know of a demon, he is supposed to be local, can spew a poison from his lips. that will kill the forest, and anything that it touches?" He looked around, the want for this poison, was the same, as how he asked her to hurt him, to unlock his actual power, forcing it to bloom, though he was immune to poisons and sicknesses, so he wanted to use it, instead of hurting himself, so he could fight, a very ineffective means. Looking to his hand he noticed the tattoo was slightly higher than normal his voice calm, "Is it going to over take me, or is it just better control over it I wonder..." He sighed staring at the shifting tattoo before he spoke calmly, "Is Ava near by... I would like to see her when she does not feel like she is going to die..."

As he spoke one of the miko's went to go get Ava. She was a little weak as her full power wasn't back yet as she came into the room she gave a glare to the other miko's and they left. "So what are you talk about? The poison demon in the forest?" she asked him as she sat down by him she wanted to know more though she wasn't sure what she could learn she knew there was always something to learn no matter what it was she always strive for better.

He watched her calmly, his eyes following around, "Yes he is supposed to spew out a poisonous miasma, that id deadly on contact, and is very quickly reproduced. I am able to use other demons abilities, I believe this one would allow me to improve my natural ability...". He looked to his hand, and the strange shifting tattoo, "though when I use its power I feel such an unbridled hate for anything and everything.". He looked at his arm, afraid if he learned to use it, that he would be warped like most demons he met, wishing more than anything to meet another demon like him, not bound by the current greater demons.

As she listened she started to think on what he stated. "If you had move power of your demon side would you think about really doing that?" she asked as she actually knew a few forbidden techniques that would help him. Only the problem was it was sure death for her even if she was cured of the sickness. To her that didn't matter the time with him to save the others would be worth it yet she wasn't sure if she should tell him of her sacrifices as he might not agree to it so willingly. It seemed he liked her even enough to help her.
