Of course it was the middle of the day--the most inconspicuous time of day. Veteran officer, Lea Touza, and her rookie partner were staking out a warehouse where a drug deal was supposed to have been going on. Several other squad car teams were working the case as well--binoculars and cameras aiding in the process. Her job was mostly recovery when the time came and back up if necessary. As such, it only made sense that the two of them were parked behind some strategically placed obstacles that hid the car and its siren, but could easily be taken away or run down and they could see though if they sat on the hood of the car.

"See that?" she asked, pointing out something that the man they were watching pulled from his pocket. "That is what we want to capture on film. And we definitely want to retrieve it for evidence."

(Sorry! Forgot to reply to this until I saw you get on >_< )

"Tch...I don't see why we don't just bust them already. We see the suitcase and we already know there are drugs in there. We see the money that will be dealt out for the drugs. Lets just bust them! We'll have evidence and have taken out some of the members." Nathan sighed as he sat back and watched the man. "Cameras don't do anything but watch. We can't catch them if they go underground after findin' out that we got dirt on 'em. Cmon Lea! Lets take em out right now!"

She sighed, his argument sounding much too familiar. She, herself, had said that before. "We need the proof first, Nathan," she said. "I know how you feel, but trust me on this. We need everything to go smoothly. We can't arrest them for a crime they didn't commit yet," she said, looking at him. "At best, we'd get them with possession and intent to sell. We wanna put them away for as long as we can," she said, looking over at him.

A call came over the radio about getting into position--the exchange was just about to begin. They had the exits covered nicely. All that was left to do was take them out. "Okay, get ready," she said. "They're probably armed, so make sure you're careful about that."

He pouted and looked out the window, just waiting for the 'a-okay' to move in and stop the drug bust. He wanted to get into a gun fight...He wanted action. Not stakeouts or simple security duty. He joined the force for the action and thrills, and was stoked to get a sexy partner and mentor...but it didn't turn out anything like he hoped. He kept his spas-12 shotgun between his legs, the barrel pointing directly up as he waited for the signal to move in and arrest them. Then something caught his eye. "Huh..." He looked and watched as some people down the road were just staring at the drug bust, wearing coats as they blended with the thick and heavy crowd that moved along the streets. He reached down and pulled out a pair of binoculars and began to observe them...apparently they hadn't noticed he nor Lea or anyone else, but were just watching the drug deal go on. He figured it was just a bunch of tourists who were watching out of curiosity. It didn't look too weird as the drug bust just looked like some Suits paying some construction workers who were supposed to be the clients they were dealing to.

She frowned. This bust was probably the most exciting thing he'd get to be in on until he got a little more used to the force. Everyone who became a cop seemed to think they'd be doing a lot of work on the action side of things--but the reality was a lot of paperwork and simple domestic stuff. She'd been similarly disappointed, but now that she was a vet, she was included in a lot more of the exciting things.

"Cheer up. It gets better," she said with a smile. She saw him take a look through the binoculars and leaned over across him to get a better look. "Whatcha checking out?" she asked, her eyes immediately going to the two characters who were watching. Rather conspicuously, in fact.

"Nothing...nothing...just two women walkin' by..." He murmured as he turned away and watched them. He looked at Lea and began to look up and down her body and smirked. "Hey. Lea...What say you and I have a lil fun while we're waitin'?" He said with a smirk as he looked at her. "Cmon...no one has to know...and we can stop 'soon as they say so." This wouldn't be the first time he tried anything with her. He thought she was a sexy vixen who kept cock teasing him. "Cmon Lea...Whadya say?"

She frowned and continued to watch the two. Just what were they up to. She asked a team to check it out over the radio just to be safe. She looked up at him as he started to speak again and chuckled a bit, shaking her head. "You never give up do you?" She shot him a bit of a bland look. This really wasn't the time or place to fool around, despite how cute he was. And she did have a thing for guys in uniform like he was at the moment. And he wore it well.
Well...if they weren't too risky with it..."What is it that you wanna do anyway?" she asked, making sure the mic on the camera wasn't on. She glanced up and saw the two men taking their time.

"Oh nothin' that won't be a hassle if we have to get out too quickly..." He said as he looked at her still with the lust in his eyes. "I finger you, you jerk me...thats all. What do you say?" He smirked and grabbed the shotgun between his legs and began to stroke the barrel. "Cmon, just a little bit of this until I shoot a round and then I'll be good." He loved to tease her like this.

Jeez, and men thought she was a tease. The very suggestive way he was stroking that gun of his made her nervous, and the idea of messing around with him was more appealing by the second...Well...They were already on the hood of the car....

No. What was she thinking? But a little dirty talk, couldn't hurt... "I don't know," she said watching his hand. "Seems like a waste for me to do something you seem to be good at already," she said. "I don't think I'd be as good as you are. Besides, wouldn't you rather be deep inside me, stroking in and out until you lose it?" She grinned mischievously and let him imagine that before she glanced back out to the targets, who seemed to be waiting for something. Frowning, she wondered what was up...something wasn't right here.

"Pfft. You go straight for the sex? Aw thats no fun. No foreplay whatsoever when it comes to you huh? And like you wouldn't imagine me just sticking my big gun deep into you. You know that you like it." He smirked. "I bet I could get you so horny from simply talking that at least I can see your nipples poke through your uniform. Oh look, they're doing it now." He pointed, but he didn't know if they were actually erect or not enough to see through the uniform. He just wanted to tease her and make her look down for no reason.

"Nice try, rookie. I'm not that easy," she said, though she did like the idea of him going in and out of her, picturing him like that. "And foreplay's fine, but I see no point in doing what you can do already. After all, I think I'm much rather wrap my lips around you and get a taste. Then again, foreplay's a little overrated," she said, chuckling.

"Well then. If you'd rather get your lips all around me and fast a taste, I could say the same for you. I'd love to kiss your lower lips, since I know you aren't that flexible to do so yourself...are you?" He questioned with a raised eyebrow, but he shook his head. "Whatever ya tease. You know you want some of this, so I don't know why exactly you're holdin' back. I may be a rookie in being a cop, but I'm not a rookie when it comes to pleasure."

She chuckled. "Well, you've got me there. I'm not a contortionist, but I am pretty flexible. I can get into all kinds of positions if I really want to," she said with a little smirk. "That's a pretty nice line, though. Maybe later I'll have to put you to the test. Right now, I'm trying to be a professional and not imagine ripping those clothes off." She winked and then looked out there to the targets. Finally they were starting to move.

"Looks like we'll be heading in soon," she said, watching intently.

"Not soon enough." He said as he cocked his shotgun and used his binoculars to watch the deal as it went on. He bit his lip and waited for the right moment. "Cmon...We have the video feed don't we...!? They're exchanging suitcases...! We have to act now or else they'll get away Lea!" He said with his lip being bit in anxiety as he wanted to take them out now.

Maybe she really should have done something to take the edge off of her young partner. She'd have to remember that in the future. A moment later they received the call to go for it. "Alright, keep it cool," she warned, stepping out from behind their barrier. As if on cue the other officers appeared as well, some in their squad cars as planned. "Freeze! Police!" and various other intimidating cries filled the air as they came out, guns drawn, bodies alert.

"Finally!" Nathan chimed out as he let a shot ring into the ground, and not into the air as he knew it was against the law to fire a gun into the air. He rushed toward them, aiming his shotgun and yelling 'Get down!' over and over again. He shot the ground next to one of them again, just creating more of a ruckus than the rest of them did and he pressed his foot into the back of hte neck of one of the perps and aimed his gun at him. He smirked and looked at Lea. "Too easy!"

Lea sighed, knowing this was going to be one hell of a long night. "Get your ass back here, you idiot!" If this was him being cool, she had a lot of long nights ahead of her. At that point, one of the suits rushed forward with a gun drawn, aimed at Nathan. "Stay where you are," Lea yelled at the figure. She trained her gun on the person that did not stop walking. She shot them in the arm and the gun was dropped. "Stay down," she ordered, looking rather intimidating for the busty woman she was.

From far off, the suits that Nathan had noticed before were speaking into their coat collars, and they seemed to angrily eye Nathan, whom seemed to gather all of the attention. "Good job partner!" He called out with a laugh, though his gun was still aimed to the head of the perp he had pinned down. Within a few seconds after that, a loud shot rang out and a bullet pierced through Nathan's body. His eyes were wide and he did not cry out, he just dropped his gun and went with the force of the bullet that sent him forward a foot away from the guy he was standing on, but when the shotgun hit the ground, it fired into the perp he was standing on. Nathan lay in a pool of blood as a sniper got his gear together and rushed off the roof of the faraway corp building he was on.

"Shit!" She cursed under her breath. Her partner had been shot and now the perp they'd been after was dead, thanks to his arrogance and gung-ho attitude. She'd be taking a lot of shit for this, and now she had to worry about whether or not he would live. She kept her gun trained on the person she could still see and called in for back up and ambulance over the radio. Another officer team rushed after the sniper while another covered the suits and perp so she could run to her squad car and grab her fist aid kit.

She was back in a flash down by her partner on her knees. "Damn it, didn't I tell you to stay cool? What the hell was that?" she asked, her hands shaking as she got some gloves on and some gauze pads. "I told you to come back to me, didn't I?" she asked, going through her head as to how she could have prevented this or protected him better. She pressed the gauze down against his wound and applied enough pressure to try and stop the bleeding.

Another officer was working on the other man that had been shot.

Nathan seemed to be a lifeless corpse already though as she worked on him. His eyes were open, and were lifeless as his pupils were dilated. His skin was cold and he was losing color and blood, or rather just color until she started to apply the gauze pad onto him. Within moments an ambulance arrived and paramedics came and took Nathan from Lea, another officer holding her back from going into the ambulance with Nathan and the perp. The ambulance drove off, its sirens still wailing off even after it was long gone. The officer began to explain to Lea that the police station would keep her covered over everything that would happen with Nathan...however...they never got the details as to where Nathan was being held. "Just get back to the station and give a report...I'll...My squad will watch things here...just report back and take an early leave..." The seargant told her, giving her an order to. He knew how hard it would be to lose a partner before your very eyes.

She shook her head and tried to get into the ambulance with her partner, but she was barred. She wanted to be there so badly. It was largely her fault that he was down. She should have held him back somehow. She should have done so much and now he was...She didn't want to think about it. She tried to keep it together as she listened to the sergeant ordered her to get to the station first. "Right. I'll report," she said, forcing herself to put on an icy cool exterior. She was shaken. She got into her car and put on the siren, not wanting to deal with anyone. She made the report to the chief and requested the leave, immediately requesting to know where her partner had been taken.

The chief shook his head. "We don't know for sure at the moment. We're checking all of the hospitals at the moment...but replies will take a while. Get some rest, thats an order. Go home. We'll have where he is tomorrow, alright Lea?" The chief said as he stood up and patted her on the shoulder. "He's going to be fine...alright? We didn't assign him to you for nothing. Now go home...just do whatever you can to relax...alright?"

"That's easier said than done, chief. Do me a favor? Call me as soon as you know...nobody should wake up alone in a hospital." She bit her lip and took a deep breath as he chief tried to be consoling. She really wished he wouldn't be so damn understanding. It was only making it worse.

She called a cab to take her home after she changed into some street clothes. She went home and tried her best not to cry. Her partner was down and she was sitting at home...she wanted to do more, but there wasn't much she could do but drive to different hospitals until she found him. That seemed a bit like wasted effort since she didn't trust herself to drive right now. Instead, she'd take a shower and drink some wine before trying to go to bed.

It wouldn't be until early next morning that she would have a voice mail on her answering machine that, when she played it, told the location of where Nathan was being held...and how severe his wounds were, but he would make a full recovery in no time.

---

In the hospital, Nathan looked outside the window and said nothing to anyone who visited him. He remained quiet...not seeming to pay attention to anyone who came in for whatever reason. He just...didn't have the motivation to do it anymore. He knew why. He saw his life flash before his eyes...and it was a life of mistakes. He regretted everything, unable to cope with seeing all the mistakes he had made throughout his years hit him like a truck, or in his case, the bullet. He only had one thing to say to one person...if he ever saw her. "Lea..." Was all he said as he thought about what he would say to her...both knowing and not knowing what to say.

Lea spent a restless night, though she slipped in and out of consciousness. Guilt was the main culprit here, but she was also deeply worried about him. When she woke up she took another shower and put on some very light make up. She got the call while she was in the shower and when she played the message, she ran to her closet. She pulled on a black blouse and some shorts. Some shoes and a call for a cab later and she was at the hospital. She walked into the room after making sure he was awake, her hair down for a change. It was pretty clear that she wasn't herself, but she was so relieved to see he was ok, she smiled right away.

"Hey." That was a pretty weak hello but it was the best she could do at the moment.
