Leovin stalked through the forest, completely alert and ready for anything. He was hot on the trail of his target. He could see the signs and knew that they had gone that way down the trail. He stayed off the trails and ran silently through the trees. He'd been assigned this target by the lead hunters. It had taken a week to learn the town and a few days to travel there. He'd been carefully searching for them for five days since arriving in town. Now he knew where she was and it was time to strike.

He came to a clearing and stopped, looking past some trees. She wasn't there. With a sigh he ran his fingers through his short brown hair. His light blue eyes gleamed in the moonlight. After making sure no one would see him his body sprang into action again. The 6'3" broad shouldered frame bolted across the clearing. Despite his speed his footsteps were soft, barely leaving a mark or making a noise.

Once again he went through the forest by the trail. He felt he was getting very close. He had a good sense of it. He'd spent years training as a hunter and his instincts were sharpened along with his agility and reflexes. Now he was on the hunt for the main prey of the order. A vampire.

As the forest came to an end he saw that the trail continued down a hill toward a cabin. He could see a figure close to the cabin. It was definitely feminine and from the way she was carrying herself he knew she was the one he was looking for. He slowly crept down the hill, staying out of sight as much as he could. His dark coat helped him blend into the night. As he neared the cabin he drew out his weapons. A long silver stake in one hand and a cross in the other. He reached the building and slowly peeked into one of the windows, looking for his prey and planning his attack.

Olivia moved herself from outside, to inside her cabin, as the sun was going down. She smiled to herself when she thought of the values humans still thought of when it came to her species. They thought the sun killed them, which it would, if night never came. The sun only weakened them, and right now she felt like a new born baby, because she had decided to hike all day. It had been a fun experience but her body hated her for it. She sat down on her couch for a few minutes with her head back, taking in a breath or two, trying to gain back some energy but it was hard when she hadn't 'eaten' all day.
Moving to the kitchen she opened her fridge to find her last remaining blood bag, reluctantly pulling it out she simply stuck a straw into it. While others liked their's straight from the vein, she didn't, but she would do it if she had to. She preferred her's chilled. She laughed to herself because it was like a normal humans preference of coffee. While she drank it, ever so slowly, she thought about how much her life had changed in the past year alone.
When it started off she was a normal 19 year old, a happy human, but then she was attacked and became this. She hated it honestly but there were perks, like never dying, and never aging, even though she celebrated her 20th birthday by herself. She was ashamed of what she was and that was why she lived all by herself in this little cabin in the woods. Moving off of the couch, and after drinking her bag of blood, she promptly threw it in the trash and went to take a shower.
After turning on only the water she looked at herself in the mirror, because she did have a reflection despite other common beliefs. Her long dark black hair was nearly at her waist and it came in sharp contrast to her sort of short frame of only 5'6. Some people would think that to be tall for a woman, but for a vampire woman it was short. From consuming all the extra protein. She stepped into the shower and after washing off everything and washing her hair she leaned her head against the pale green tiles of the shower. They were almost the same color of her eyes, most told her they looked unique, since they were so light green that they resembled a grey.
After stepping out of the shower, Olivia just put on yoga pants and a long sweatshirt. She figured that since she was the only one here, she had nobody to impress so she lay down in her bed, and before she knew it she had accidentally fallen asleep.

Leo stalked around the cabin carefully. He knew he had to be careful. When he looked through another window he was surprised to see the vampire drinking from a bag of blood. It was a very strange thing indeed. Typically the only vampires who did that were ones who didn't like taking victims. Either that, or young ones who were getting used to it. He still had a lot to learn about the differences between vampires. She was only his twelfth. Once he had her he'd have taken down a full dozen. That was a big milestone for him at only 23 years old.

He continued to watch her, wanting to find the right time to move in. When he saw her go to take a shower he knew he could make the entry without being heard. He picked the lock on the door and snuck inside. Silently he found a place to hide inside. There he waited. He listened carefully as she dressed once getting out of the shower. Then he could hear her moving to another part of the cabin. He followed. When he heard the sound of bedsprings he knew she had gone to sleep. He chuckled to himself at the thought that most people had of vampires sleeping in coffins. But he was surprised that this vampire was sleeping at night. Usually they enjoyed the night because of the power it gave them.

He wasn't going to question it though. He had his chance. He gave her a little time to really fall asleep, at least as much as a vampire can fall asleep. When he was ready to strike he slowly pushed the door open and slipped into the bedroom. He crept to the bed and looked down at her. He was stunned. She was beautiful. But that wasn't the surprising part. Most vampires were beautiful. She was young, but that too wasn't a surprise since they didn't age. The surprise to him was how much she reminded him of someone who had been special. As she slept he could see it in her face. The similarity to a little girl he had once known when he was young. They had been close and he had loved her as much as a young boy could love a young girl.

He raised the stake and readied to strike, but his hand wavered. He looked away from her, tried to force the resemblance out of his mind. His determination grew again, but then in an instant it failed completely. What if it was her? She looked 19 and she was displaying the behaviour of a fairly new vampire. It could be her. He couldn't kill her. He lowered his arm and sighed, staring at her. He couldn't let her stay free though. He had to do something. He thought for a second and then knew what he had to do. But he didn't have what he needed there. He frowned and quickly turned, leaving her bedroom and leaving her cabin.

While Olivia was asleep it took her a bit to actually get there, but once she had she could feel herself smiling outside of the dream as she curled into her pillow more. It was strange dreaming in a vampire's dream, it was very vivid and if you just had blood, like she did it only made it that much worse. While she saw his face, laughing with her just as she had. Her bestfriend that she had loved, and still loved very much. Leovin.
They were out in the fields trying to catch butterflies. It may seem like such an odd thing to someone who could see inside of her head, but to her it seemed normal. It was the same dream she had a lot of the nights after she drank blood. They were in a beautiful field behind both of their homes, since they lived right next to each other. She had been four and he had been seven or eight, she didn't really remember all the details. And then that night, right in the middle her mother had made them pack up and leave. She never got to tell him goodbye and that had always killed her, even to this day.
Without warning she woke up with a start, and gasped a little. Instantly smelling the air she could feel that someone else had been in her room while she was sleeping and she didn't like it, in fact it made her more nervous than scared. Slowly getting out of the bed she walked throughout the cabin and feeling confident that no one else was in there with her she walked outside on her little porch. The night was cool and she could feel her power returning, but it did so slowly, from being out in the sun all day.
Gazing around a few more times and after enjoying the crisp feel of the air for a few more seconds she turns and walks back into the house. Returning to her room she crawled back into the bed and after smiling over her dream she had about Leovin she fell back into another sleep, this time no dreams visited her.

Leovin made his way back to town. He had work to do. He slept for the night in the room where he had been staying during his hunt. The people there didn't really know why he was there and there weren't many stories of vampire attacks. In the morning he woke and left. He spent the day travelling to the city where he could get what he needed. When he arrived in the evening he went right to the store and into the back where he met with an old man. He carefully described what he needed and the old man nodded.

Leo needed to wait for a while and he made his way outside. He wandered slowly, thinking about the vampire and about the girl he had once known. He didn't want to believe that she had been turned. Not the girl he had loved. But he wouldn't kill the vampire, even if it wasn't her. When the old man called for him Leo returned to the shop. He sat in the dimly lit back room as the man placed an ornate silver bracelet on the table. It looked decorative, but Leo knew it wasn't. The man started to explain the properties. If worn by a vampire it wouldn't hurt them, but it would weaken them and limit their potential power and strength. At best they would be only as strong as a normal human and their abilities would be severely limited. It was exactly what he needed. It also had a special property. Only the one who put it on to someone could take it off. If Leo put it on to the vampire she would have it on until he removed it from her.

He thanked the man and paid him, taking the bracelet and adding it to his things. Then he left and found somewhere to sleep for the night in the city. When the morning came he travelled back to the small town. He wasn't sure if she was still staying at the cabin. He worried that his scent in her cabin would make her flee. If it did, his job would be harder, but he was so close on her trail that he knew he'd track her down wherever she went.

When Olivia awoke that following morning she could feel the need for more blood because of the ache in her gums. The feeling closely resembled needles stabbing her gums and again she silently cursed herself for being outside yesterday. She knew because of this she would have to stay inside all day, even if it meant that the person who was in her cabin would come back. She didn't like being stuck in one place for too long and after sensing the intruder last night she was determined to leave this morning, but with the drainage of energy she wasn't going to be able to.
Even though she had no more blood here she knew she would be so weak as the day went on. She could only hope that the day didn't last as long as she knew it was going to. She was silently glad that no one knew she was up here, she had it rigged so she could get power and water, never having a bill was pretty nice and she wasn't complaining, but she did get lonely a lot of the time. She was too ashamed to go anywhere and let someone see her like this, let alone someone she might know.
To pass away most of the day she cleaned, and she never did that and was surprised at how dirty some of the cabin turned out to be. There was dust and dirt where she didn't know dust and dirt could get, but regardless she cleaned it anyway. After that was over she watched TV for a while and laid down on the couch, and without realizing it she went to sleep from her weakened state.

It was later afternoon when he got back to the town. He decided not to wait to go find her and capture her. He was hoping she was still in her cabin. He knew that she walked around during the day unlike most other vampires, but it would weaken her and if he was lucky she wouldn't have a large supply of blood to use to bring back her strength. If she did she could be anywhere. He went right from the town toward her cabin. He moved slowly, looking for any sign of her travelling recently. He needed figure out what he was up against.

As he got closer he took out his weapon. If she thought someone had been in her home but hadn't fled he thought she might be waiting for a fight. If that was the case he didn't want to let her get the jump on him. He had to be careful, always thinking of everything. That was what he had been trained to do when facing a foe as cunning, strong, and agile as a vampire. He didn't want to kill her, but if she attacked and left him no alternatives he would do whatever he needed to keep himself alive.

Olivia sighed when she woke up and still found the television on, she knew she had been asleep for a while but she didn't think that it was all day. Turning off the TV she slowly got up off of the couch, her body faltering for a bit because of the blood she so desperately needed. She would admit that the nap did give her back some of her strength but not nearly enough that a vampire should have, her vision was blurry and it looked like she was seeing two of almost everything, her head was aching so badly she wanted to bang it into the wall and most of all her teeth. She wanted to rip them out of her mouth but knew that would only hurt worse because right now she didn't have enough blood in her system to heal fast, like a vampire should.
She managed to walk herself to the bathroom where she decided to take another shower, hoping that if it was cold water it would lessen the hurt that her entire body seemed to be going through. Her muscles were tight and rigid as she turned on purely the cold water, and once she had stripped her clothes off she stepped in and leaned against the shower wall, letting the ice cold water beat on her for a while. She knew this was probably a bed idea, because with no fresh blood in her system she wouldn't warm up fast enough and would probably freeze for a while, but she didn't care, it was making her muscles relax.
Olivia knew that if she stayed in there any longer she was going to get sick, something she wished vampires didn't do like most people believed they didn't but they did and it was awful when it happened. She pulled on her panties and leggings, and without bothering with her bra she pulled the long over-sized sweat-shirt back on. Her hair still dried in it's crazy curly way like it did when she was little but she didn't mind because it was only her there. Walking into the living-room she sat down in the chair that was facing away from the door, and groaned when she laid her head back. Tomorrow she told herself, tomorrow she would have to get blood or it would only get worse.

Leo found no sign of her along the path to the cabin. He wondered what she was doing. If she hadn't gone out to feed she must have some more blood stored up in her house. If not she would be really weak. Of course she could have just escaped into the wilderness in any direction. He decided not to jump to conclusions. He just continued moving through the forest.

When he arrived at her cabin he crept up to the wall and pressed against it. He listened carefully against the wall and thought he could hear a television. He went to a window that wasn't blocked by blinds and he peered inside. He saw her there in a chair. She didn't seem very active or very awake. But she did look a lot more like his old friend. The young girl. He needed to take her. Needed to keep her from harming people if he wasn't able to kill her.

He made a rapid plan. He was trusting that she would be weak. A full on approach in this situation would likely take her by surprise and let him capture her without problems. He moved to the main door that was behind her chair. He then pulled out the bracelet. He held it in his off hand and held a stake in his strong hand. He needed to be ready to defend himself. He waited a little longer and prepared himself mentally. Then he stood tall. He raised a foot and with all of his strength he kicked her door open. He rushed forward and got behind her. He reached over her shoulder with the stake and pointed it at her heart, holding it steady and ready to strike. "Don't you dare move. Foul Beast. If you so much as flinch I will end you. Slowly raise your hands up and back. No sudden moves."

While Olivia was sitting in the chair, she was peaceful and contempt with it for a while, and if she wasn't disturbed she would have probably stayed there all night. Even though her senses were desperately weakened she thought she heard something extremely faint outside of the cabin, but since she was in the middle of the woods she just thought it to be a deer and dismissed the thought. That is until the door was kicked open and someone had rapidly come up behind her before she had any time to think.
The words he spoke with a strong voice made her feel fear, something she hadn't felt in a very long time. Her breathing sped up and the her very faint pulse quickened as she lifted her shaking hands off of the couch and back till they were behind her head, as far back as was possible. When she looked down she could see how sharp and silver the stake was and it made her bite her lip. Her arms were trembling from how weak she already felt and she knew she had no chance of fighting him off if he wished to end her life at the moment.
Olivia hated that he had come when she was this weak, she had never hurt anyone, had never even drank from the vein, but if he did choose to end her life she hoped it was swift and had no pain with it.

He smiled to himself as she complied with his instructions. He could see the fear and her weakness mixed. As her arms went up he got the bracelet ready to put on her. Once he was sure she wasn't going to fight back he quickly put the ornate silver band onto her left wrist. With one final motion he locked it into place and he knew that was it. Even if she drank blood she would be weak. He slowly pulled the stake away from her chest and put it away. He then moved around in front of her and looked down, glaring. "You're lucky. I've decided not to kill you. There is something different and something special about you. But you are dangerous and I can't have you running free. So that is why you are going to be coming with me and I'm going to keep you somewhere safe. Safe from harm and safe from harming others. I'm a hunter, so if you attack me I hope you know that you won't live long. My blood won't make you strong. But I don't have to worry anyway. That bracelet I put on you will keep you weak and it is special. Only I can take it off of you. So, will you come with me, or should I just kill you now?" He grinned and his hand drifted toward his stake again.

Olivia looked down at the silver bracelet adorning her wrist as he was talking to her. Of course she heard everything he was saying to her and it worried her that she was never going to be strong again, but it was happier that she was going to die. She didn't like that only he could take it off, but decided that she would deal with that later. So when she looked up after he asked the question she immediately gasped. The back of her mind was shouting 'Leovin!' she wanted to shake it off because leo had been so nice to her, but this one was mean and from the looks of it, didn't even know who he was looking at. "I'll go with you," She whispered in defeat. "But I was so weak already, and this bracelet doesn't help me. So you might have to h-help me." She said as she was trying to get her breathing to relax.

It was clear to Leovin what she meant and he didn't like it. But as he looked at her he realise that if he didn't get her blood she was going to die anyway, or at the very least they would be stuck there. He wasn't quite sure what to do until he remembered a clinic in the town. They were sure to have some bagged blood saved up. He was going to have to get some. One way or another.

He looked down at her and sighed. "I can't give you my blood. At this point it would probably kill you. I'm also not bringing you a victim. But I'll get something. You can wait here. We will leave at night and then we will travel to one of my hideouts. I have a number of small homes. We'll go to the biggest one, in the city. Once we're there I'll decide what to do with you on a more permanent level. For now, stay here." He didn't wait for a response. He didn't think she could leave even if she wanted to. He left the cabin and jogged slowly back to the town. Once there he started to plan how he was going to get some of the blood from the clinic.

Olivia sat there in shock because he really didn't remember who she was, and if he did he was letting it on. It made her a little bit sad and after he left her cabin in search of food she just curled up in the chair she was in, too weak to move. Not having blood was making her sleepy. No matter how hard she may have wanted to fall asleep right away it just wouldn't come. Of course she tried to take the silver off of her wrist, but only succeeded in cutting herself with a piece of it, and when the silver touched inside of the cut it burned and only weakened her further. This time she passed out curled up in the chair instead of merely falling asleep.

Leovin eventually came up with a plan. Since the town was small things were often quiet. There was only one person working at the clinic at any one time and that would help him. He just needed an excuse to get the person out of there. He gathered what he needed and went to a small area of trees just outside of town. He carefully lit some fires in a circle and let them catch. He made sure that there was no way it would spread to the rest of the forest. He didn't want to start a forest fire. He just wanted a controlled fire that would bring attention.

He stood behind the fire and started to yell out for help using a higher pitched voice. He also cried out that he was trapped. He wanted people to think there was someone stuck in there. He then slipped away and made a big loop around. When he saw that people were running toward the fire he jogged to the clinic. As he got close he could see the medic running toward the fire with a large bag of medical supplies. Leo took his chance and slipped into the clinic when no one was looking. It took only a minute to find the blood and he grabbed a few bags. He made sure he didn't take too much though, and not all of the same type. He didn't want them running out. But he knew he'd need more than one and the less times he had to steal the better. He rushed out of town before anyone started to return.

While Leovin was out getting blood Olivia awoke a few times in her chair but by now she couldn't get up and go anywhere even if she had wanted to. While her body was trying to help itself by restoring energy on the positive side, there was also a silver bracelet that was keeping her body from doing it on the negative side, and while the two clashed with each other it only made her feel worse. Slowly moving her arm out, she grabbed the remote again and turned on the TV, it was on the news and she saw that there was an 'accidental' fire on the outskirts of town and she knew it wasn't an accident.
Leaning back into the chair and curled up more she took in deep breaths, trying to believe that he would return soon with the blood bags.

He jogged back to the cabin as quickly as he could. He was careful to avoid dropping the blood though. He didn't want to waste any and he wasn't sure how sturdy the bags were. Carrying them slowed him a little, but he still arrived back in good time. When he entered the cabin he looked at her still in the seat. The TV was on and he was glad to hear on the news that no one had been hurt in the fire and no real damage had been done. He slowly walked around her chair and looked down at her. With a sigh he reached out with one of the bags and handed it to her, letting her drink and regain some strength. As soon as she had it in her hands he turned away. He wasn't going to watch her drinking it. The thought disgusted him. It also reminded him that she was a vampire, the thing he was supposed to be hunting and killing.

Whenever Leovin got back with the blood Olivia was over-joyed, her body desperately needed what she knew he brought because she could smell it. She watched him as he turned away, and she chuckled to herself a little because she also disgusted herself sometimes, but if she didn't have the blood she would die, it would take a while and be extremely painful but it would happen. She felt her canines lower and sharpen before she bit into the top of the bag, moaning while she quickly drained the bag in well under a minute. After she was done it took about a minute before everything returned to normal and all the pain stopped.
Olivia made sure that there was no blood around her mouth or on her teeth by running her tongue over them a few times as she got up and threw the empty bag in the garbage. "Okay, you can l-look now." She said and returned to her seat, taking in a deep breath and trying not to let her fear show. She had heard about the hunters, prayed she would never meet one. But of course the one she would meet was her sweet Leo.

Leo moved away from her as she drank. He tried to think of what he was going to do with her. He couldn't keep her in the city forever. He needed somewhere permanent. He also had to think about what would happen with her when he had to leave to go hunting other things. He didn't think he could trust her on her own for weeks at a time, but he couldn't just leave her locked up in a cage without food. There was no one he could trust to look after her either. He would need to train her to do as he said. The bracelet would keep her from being too weak to do anything a vampire might do, but she would be as strong as a human and could do damage if she tried. He decided he needed to take a few months off of regular duty to make sure he could leave her alone wherever he ended up keeping her.

When she told him she was done he turned to look at her. He could already tell she was feeling better. He nodded to her. "Good, now we're going to rest here for a while. We'll leave when the sun goes down. Before we go I suggest you pack anything you think you might want to bring. But whatever it is you are going to have to carry it. Remember, you aren't as strong as you used to be. So pack lighter than you think you should."

"Okay." Olivia said to him and got up from the chair, trying her best not to face him she walked into her bedroom. When she was sure that he could no longer hear her she gasped because she could feel a sob coming on. She didn't want to go with Leo, she was afraid for what he might do to her and when she was this weak he could do anything he wanted. As soon as she had looked up and saw that it was him, she had wanted to hug him and cry, she hadn't seen him in almost sixteen years. Olivia seriously doubted that he remembered her by the way he was acting, and that only made this worse for her.
Picking up her small back-pack she went through her drawers and got out what she thought she might need for their trip: a few shirts, some jeans, more leggings and of course several undergarments. As she was going through the last drawers she found the string bracelet that Leovin had given to her on her fourth birthday, she smiled fondly at the memory as her fingers ran over it. The bracelet was once a bright shade of pink and green but had since faded in time, but she loved it none the less and shoved it in the hidden pocket of the back-pack before slowly returning back to the living room.

As she left Leovin took a seat and relaxed for a while. He had a lot to think about. Part of him was really questioning why he wasn't just killing her. But deep down he knew he just couldn't. She reminded him too much of Olivia and that was keeping her alive. When she emerged from the bedroom he glanced at her and then looked away. He waited for a while before finding another bag to use to carry the remaining bags of blood. He then handed it to her, making her carry it as well. The sun was just starting to go down and it was time to leave. He didn't say anything to her. He just turned everything off in the cabin, making sure it wouldn't drain the town's power, then left, leading her out and into the woods. They would go beyond the town through the wilderness before going to the road. There was another town not too far away where they could get a vehicle to use to travel into the city.

Whenever he handed her the blood Olivia stuffed it into her back pack since there was room left at the top. Based upon how she was feeling she wouldn't need blood again for at least a couple more days and it made her feel better because she knew it disgusted him and she didn't want to disgust him. As they walked away from the cabin she desperately wanted to do two things; run and hug him or run and try to save herself. But she knew though if she tried the second one she would die, then again if she tried the first one there was a chance for murder there as well. Gripping the straps of her back pack as hard as she could, she silently followed behind him, wondering if they would ever really talk. She wanted to tell him so badly that he knew her, loved her once, but something was keeping her back and not knowing what that something was really scared her.

He focused on walking, on where they were going. Every once in a while he would look back at her to make sure she was still following him, but he didn't say anything to her. He was not going to let himself believe that she was the girl he had known. He couldn't let that happen. He continued to walk. Eventually they made it out of the forest and he led her to the road. Once there it was much easier to walk at a good pace. A few kilometers down the road they reached the edge of another town. He was able to find a hunter sanctuary that had a car they could use. He got the keys from inside the small house and led her to the two seat car. "Get in, we'll take this the rest of the way to the city. You can put the bag on the floor in front of you."

The silence on the way there was killing her. Olivia needed to speak to him, but she wasn't sure what would come out of her mouth once she actually started talking. She was mostly afraid that once he figured out it was her he would kill her so he could 'save' her. When they finally got to the town and lead to the car she was surprised. It was an extremely nice car, one that had a convertible roof on it. She slowly slipped off her back pack and got into the car, placing her bag at her feet like she had been instructed to do. She looked up at Leo while he wasn't looking at her, it pulled at her heartstrings and when her eyes started to cloud up from tears she quickly looked away, afraid he would catch her looking. Taking a deep breath, she buckled herself in the car and gripped the seat belt with both hands in front of her chest.

He waited as she got into the car. When she was buckled in he got in on the driver's side. He started the car and slowly pulled out. It was late at night and the roads were empty. He was able to get them through the town and onto the highway without seeing anyone else. Once they were on the highway he was able to relax a little. He glanced over at her a couple of times, but couldn't think of anything to say to her. He was surprised that she hadn't asked him why he hadn't killed her already. All he'd really told her was that she was special. As he drive he did think about what he wanted to do about her long term. He would look to find out where the real Olivia was. When he learned that she was somewhere else, safe, he was sure he'd feel confident enough to get rid of her.
