The first thing Isobel did as she entered her room was to open the sliding doors that overlooked the cliffside path. Even though it was evening, a fresh, salty breeze circulated into her room making it nice and refreshing.
Her black pumps clacked on the hard wood flooring, and Isobel sat down on the plush bed and took them off. As soon as her feet were free of the sexy yet incredibly confining and painful shoes she massaged her toes, trying to bring back a little bit of feeling. Isobel debated for a moment about taking a nice, relaxing bubble bath and then crawling into bed for the night, but she had more work to do. A professor's work never stopped, even after you left the classroom. Besides, she had a stack of five hundred word essays on her desk that needed grading.

Reluctantly, Isobel got off the bed and began to change her clothes. With a silent spell and a tiny flick of her wrist, the lights dimmed a bit. In one swift motion, her dress went over her head and was tossed quickly in the hamper. As she continued to undress, she thought about how excelling in charms and transfiguration meant she wasn't stuck with one of those ornate, baroque, traditional castle bedrooms. Ornate to her meant stuffy, and as soon as she was assigned a bedroom she spent a week modernizing it and making it exactly how she wanted it. Vaulted ceiling, hardwood everywhere, and those amazing french doors that overlooked the ocean. It wasn't old fashioned, but it was pretty simple and relaxing, which exactly what she needed after a long day of teaching.

Isobel re-dressed herself simply for the rest of the night and then loosely tied on a floral kimono. It wasn't really her style, but it had been a gift, and the kimono was comfortable. Her hair hair fell over her face in loose waves as she sat at the desk with a pear, the stack of essays, a quill, and red ink in front of her. With an audible sigh, Isobel reached for the first essay, dabbed her quill in the ink, and began to read. The essays were boring her to sleep, and she still hadn't finished the first one. There had been so many red notes that she would probably run out of ink before she even finished. Isobel was beginning to think she wan't going to make it through the night.

Isobel was thinking about calling up some tea when her northern hawk owl, Vivaldi, came flying in through the doors. He didn't have any mail, but he perched on her shoulder and made a long twittering sound in her ear. Isobel gave Vivaldi a little cuddle before going to rummage around for some owl treats. When she found them, Vivaldi eagerly flew to his perch and Isobel put a few in her palm so Vivaldi could nip them up. She gave the owl a little pat on the head and sunk back into her desk chair. Seeing that the owl would get no more attention, he flew out the french doors, presumably to the owlery.

Isobel took a bite of her overripe pear, and it's juices dripped down to her chin. She ignored it for now, and resumed grading. She stretched, trying to stay awake, but it only made her more tired. Perhaps she could take her work outside or go for a walk to get some fresh air to keep her awake. She decided the papers would blow around too much out there and she might lose them. It would serve her students right to have to redo them. She hadn't seen anything his awful from her lot in months.
