Bionicle: Legend of Ignika Nui

In the time before time, the Matoran lived in the City of Legends, Metru Nui. For thousands of years the island was relatively peaceful. Matoran lived and worked together to achieve great technological advancements, and Metru Nui became a bustling center for trade from other lands. This peace ended with the attack by the Dark Hunters, a ruthless organization of assassins and thieves bound and determined to take Metru Nui for themselves. The island's guardian, the Makuta, sent messages far and wide calling for help.

The Matoran's salvation came in gleaming armor, wielding the very elements as if they were extensions of themselves: hundreds of Toa from other lands, ready to lay their lives down to protect the Matoran of Metru Nui. For over a century the Toa and Dark Hunters fought each other. Both sides took heavy losses, but in the final days of the war, it was clear that the Dark Hunters would soon overwhelm the Toa. The Makuta called an emergency council, and proposed a plan.

In the dead of night the Matoran of Metru Nui were evacuated by a secret tunnel, known only to a select few, while all but six of the remaining Toa stayed behind to buy them time to escape. The Makuta led the Matoran through the tunnel for weeks until they arrived on a beautiful island. The Makuta sealed the way from the island to Metru Nui to ensure that the Dark Hunters would never be able to follow. The Toa and Makuta began paving the way for the Matoran to build settlements.

Despite the island's beauty, it was not without risks. The land was treacherous, and filled with Rahi beasts of every shape and size. But eventually the Matoran and Toa were able to build villages for themselves. In honor of the new life they had been given, they named the island "Ignika Nui". The Matoran gave thanks to the Great Spirit for being delivered from the Dark Hunters.

But Makuta grew jealous. He had defended Metru Nui alongside the Toa, he had led them to their new home, and he had protected them from the Rahi outside the village walls. Not some Great Spirit that the Matoran insisted watched over all of them. In his anger, Makuta crafted a powerful mask: the Kanohi Kraakhan. With it he twisted the island's Rahi into monsters, and led them against the villages that did not bow to his will.

But the six Toa, now known as the Toa Mangai, fought back, knocking the Kraakhan from Makuta's face, and sealing him in a prison of solid Protodermis crystal. The island was at peace.

Centuries have passed since the Makuta's defeat, and much has changed in that time. The Toa Mangai have passed on their powers and become Turaga. But darkness is seeping into the very fabric of Ignika Nui once again. The Rahi beasts are becoming more dangerous, and worst of all, they are organizing like an army. Two of the Turaga have gone missing, and another has been killed during a Rahi attack. The three remaining Turaga have called an emergency council, and decided to inform the villages of a way to fight back against the Rahi: when the Toa Mangai became Turaga, they imbued their power into objects known as Toa Stones, and hid them in different places across Ignika Nui. If found by a Matoran destined to become a Toa, the Toa Stone would transform them into mighty warriors.

However, acquiring these Toa Stones is easier said than done. Ignika Nui's landscape is treacherous, and many Rahi will attack Matoran at first sight, and won't stop until their target is dead. Is it your destiny to become a guardian, Matoran? And are you brave enough to face the perils of the island to reach your destiny?

I will say right off the bat that this RP is strictly story-based, with no NSFW elements. If it were written for film, it would probably be PG or low PG-13.

As one would surmise, this RP is based on Lego's Bionicle series. This RP is set in an alternate timeline of the prime universe, and while there are differences from the core canon, the setting does also share many things with the prime Bionicle universe (Kanohi, elemental powers, species of Rahi and sentient races, etc.). Some of the bigger differences from the prime universe:

With the exception of Matoran of Psionics, Matoran of any element can be either gender.
Matoran, Toa, and Turaga are slightly more organic than in the main universe, though not to the degree of Glatorian and Agori; that being said, they are incapable of sexual reproduction

At the moment I'm looking for five other players to take on the role of Matoran seeking the Toa Stones; at the time, these would be the six primary elements of the Bionicle universe, but down the line, more Toa of additional elements (Lightning, Iron, Psionics, etc.) could appear.
